Is lycanthropy worth it?

lyc is bad, missing out on the 15% exp bonus is a severe penalty. The problem is not levellin your main skills, these come from alone. But other minor and difficult to raise skills you dont use often. Like speech, which incidentally you will be using alot right after resting, selling all this junk, which raises Speech. Also applies to smithing and enchanting all lose 15%, which is quite a penalty if you dont powerlevel these two, they level quite slowly.
If you use the lover stone, you wouldn't need to rest to get the exp bonus.

That negates the ability to use any other stone. And I prefer the stone that gives you +100 carry weight. I just got rid of my werewolf ability after about 150 hours of never using it. Initially got it to fend off vampirism, but seeing as my character is more stronger and I have plenty of cure disease potions to use if I obtain it somehow, I'm good without lycanthropy.

Resting bonuses aren't very useful anyway. Skyrim's not like Oblivion in this regard, but you'll still hit level 50, which is when enemies stop scaling, long before you run out of stuff to do.

Makes the dark brotherhood way more fun. Change, munch some face, run, change, come back to town as the loin cloth assassin. One the things I like most about the game. I guess it would work as well anytime you want to get rid of some NPCs without bounty.

Totally useless on the higher difficulties. Works much better since the werewolf enhancer mod though. :tops:

You still get bounties if you kill people as a werewolf in town

I did it only once in order to continue the Companion/Circle quests until the cure developed. Take all the heads you can--you may want to use them to cure yourself and others too. I only became a beast once.

I only done it once. It is not for everyone. I am one of those in that category. I just done it to further the questline. I could not get cured fast enough. The main thing, I wanted to level my char and you get no XP bonuses. It was just a novelty that wore fast.

Some really like it. It was just not for me at all.

Totally worth it, lack of xp bonus is nothing, there is enough to do to keep you leveling without it. the werewolf is powerful but you have to also be cautious play as a hit and run beast and keep going, looking for random encounter humanoids to eat while avoiding tough enemies that might damage you without being able to feast on their corpse. if you pick a nice group of dead guys to start with you can go for ages all across the land, and carrying tons of loot without being encumbered. I mostly use it for getting around fast and when I'm carrying too much loot because I refuse to use fast travel and don't like constantly getting off a horse to fight and chasing the dumb animal down after a battle

I say don't get rid of it.

You should use Beast Form outside of bandit encampments, like forts and towers, so that you can become comfortable with werewolf combat. At later levels, werewolves still have zero base armor, but the damage you deal with your claws scale. That, combined with the massive DPS werewolves have and the ability to launch anything with a power attack makes you an offensive powerhouse.

That said, werewolves could play defensively, too. I don't have much time to explain as I'll be in school for the next few hours, but I'll get back on this thread.

For now, keep it--once you've practiced enough combat, you'll see that it's advantageous. I've come to rely on it when things get rough (and I've got a stealth/melee build, so things don't get tough often :D).

My one character who has it right now is Khajiit and he keeps it for roleplaying purposes because his ideal afterlife would be the happy hunting ground you go to if you die with the wolfblood.
