The mouse and keyboard are vastly superior control devices for any first person game.

I'm a PC'er, a dedicated gamer, and use at various times a gaming mouse, a gaming keyboard, a gamepad and a 360 controller.

I tried the 360 controller first, and ditched it...I tried it in keyboard emulation mode, and ditched it again.

Now I either play with the gamepad or the keyboard and mouse, and the game is far far better than using the 360 controller....plus I have virtually all my controls at my fingertips.

Sounds like OP isn't experienced with PC controls.

Turning with mouse has been a standard since Quake's Quakeworld multiplayer addon. 1996 something.

Controllers are poor for certain games, you cannot move the camera while pressing buttons, the stick is crap for moving the camera fast, aiming is poor and requires devs to implement assist aim or auto aim which is a cheat.
