How to artificially extend the size of Skyrims gameworld.

If you're a compulsive fast traveller, please exit this thread, there is nothing for you here.

but if you're like me and enjoy the feeling of walking everywhere, where a trip from winterhold to markarth is an epic two day journey with a stopover in Morthal, then how about banning some of the shortcuts in the game map? For example If I want to journey to winterhold from whiterun, usually I could go straight north into the pale and head east along the river. But to extend the distance I will travel west of labrinthian, then north to Morthal, then I'll head east to winterhold. This not only expands the gameworld and makes journeys more epic, but I feel its more beleivable, as the landscape gradually becomes more snowy this way, rather than going from the sunny plains of whiterun to an epic blizzard after only a 2 minute walk.

Riften to Windhelm, usually I could just walk North over eastmarch, but I prefer to travel to Whiterun first, then head up into the pale and east along the river. This isnt a set in stone law I apply, but sometimes when Im immersed in the game I'll extend the distance to various holds. It also depends on the character Im playing.

Nice idea, I have not thought of that.
But my father is mad at me for my playtime (270 hours since release, haven't played for a long while) so I'd prefer to keep them a bit down. I try to avoid fast travel though, and I have disabled compass through .ini.
Only problem is that without fast travel, all those generic Radiant Story quests become such a hassle.
