Before Oblivion and Skyrim, i was an "on-line" only

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 8:40 pm

Ever since the orignal xbox went live, i've only bougth games that had interesting online gameplay. Once Oblivion came out it distracted from playing online as much. I'd still need some online gameplay during the day for a fix. However, ever since Skyrim has come out i get so bored with online matches now. I never thought that could happen.

Skyrim is so massive, with an endless amount of places to go and things to do that all i ever want to do know is play Skyrim and i have lost all desire for online gaming. I can see myself playing Skyrim every day for years to come. Hell, even other singal player games can't hold a candle to skyrim. I tried playing the mass effect 3 demo and quickly got bored and put Skyrim back in. I was so excited for that game. Now i can feel like i can wait for that game to be in the bargin bin with the rest of the serise for 20 bucks.

Skyrim is truley a master piece! Has anyone else felt like not playing online games any more cause of Skyrim?

Skyrim does something that many games haven't been able to do and that's keep my attention for extended periods of time. I've found that as I've aged games have become less and less interesting. Fewer games have been able to grab my interest, or at least hold onto it for en extended period of time.

As for playing less multiplayer games it varies. I haven't really touched MW3 or BF3 in awhile, although I still play zombies on Black Ops. I haven't touched single, or multiplayer, with Minecraft but the game has died for me. This isn't really due to Skyrim itself but due to me going through periods where I play one game more than another.

I much prefer to play at my own pace and according to my own rules and path. That is what turned me off of WOW and other games like that.

Honestly I am getting there myself. I keep finding stuff to do in Skyrim and haven't lost interest a bit.

There is an MMO coming out in May that all my friends want to me play, but I feel like I will still be completely wrapped up in Skyrim.

The Elder Scrolls does have a staying power no other game has.

I tend to enjoy single player games more than online co-op and I really disdain MMOs. I like the stories and adventures within the game. In The Elder Scrolls I like to roleplay my characters and I draw out long stories for them.

Single player games usually have higher quality content than multiplayer games. WoW is a good example of that, that game has some of the worst mechanics in gaming history but it's still alive because of the community. Though not all multiplayer games are bad, and most of the new mmos are getting higher quality content like SWTOR, which actually has a good story. Also, don't but ME3, EA is just milking its customers with it.

Don't have as much time to play games as i did back in my youth. Probably only buy 2 games a year so for me open world sandbox rpgs like this are perfect. Skyrim will keep me entertained for a year if not longer, just like fallout 3 and oblivion did before it.

I do enjoy the odd fps now and then like halo or cod but they don't hold my attenion as long and particularly with cod it seems to be more and more of the same every year. Enjoyed black ops but not even looked at mw3.

I prefer to choose my own adventures, play how i want to play and see my character develop not just experience the same as everyone else who plays.

I've always liked both singleplayer and online games, so Skyrim (and the TES series as a whole) hasn't really swayed me one way or the other.

Typically, I play singleplayer games for a fairly casual gaming experience, and online games for a more hardcoe, competitve experience.

i know, i was an online gamer(DN,MS, etc those free to play and you ended up paying $500 for cash shop :< nexon). Then i played morrowind and oblivion but meh, i still went back to online gaming. Then skyrim came and it saved me tons of $ for those useless cashshops where i can simply pay $80 for Skyrim and got that game forever(with mods too).
Hell, i was even gonna try out TERA but i guess skyrim beats it

Yup, I am like that as well.

I used to like playing MMO's (hehe it was through a MMO that I met my partner)

But now I much prefer to play single player games. I also do not like the monthly fee that you get with a lot of MMO's.

I've never been a huge fan of online games. I do enjoy co-op in Left4Dead 2 with friends, and the new open beta of https://account.hirezstudios.com/tribesascend/ is pretty sweet, but other than that I like single player games the most.

No pressure from other people around, or getting distracted from the game world by people with weird names spamming nonsense. http://screenshots.filesnetwork.com/95/potd/1134695493_73.jpg

Skyrim not only takes time and desire out of multiplayer games, but it also makes me wish I wasn't in real life. I wait all day just to come home and play skyrim, and fridays are terrible because its hard to get through the time I'm NOT playing skyrim. I swear to god it's the Bethesda drug.

Yah for pc gamers we have to make sure we can get on-line to play skyrim, and to set it in offline mode we have to be online, just brilliant.

Is your skyrim copy legal :P? You shouldn't be able to play it without steam(which is stupid they should have kept the cd check).

Well at launch there was a bug that you didn't have to use steam at all to run Skyrim, maybe it has something to do with that :stupidsmileyswhycanttheyshowasnormaltext:

I bounce back and forth between BF3 and Skyrim during the day. I still love SWTOR and Eve Online, sadly I can't play them because my video card went into the crapper mode, and BF3 and Skyrim are on my PS3 so I have that at least.

I love SWTOR because of the story and I'm a Star Wars nerd/geek. I love everything about it except Jar Jar.. he needs to die, and the emo Anakin, even though it makes sense for the character, should have used a different actor. Also, not replacing the Original Anakin ghost. I love BF3 because I loved the first two, and they have typically been the more realistic combat experience (for a game) than anything on the market. It's a great game for fps enthusiasts.

Skyrim is a whole other beast. I loved Morrowind and Oblivion, the first two TES games I've ever gotten head deep into. I played Daggerfall on a friends computer long ago, and the small amount I played was pretty damn fun, I loved it but was never head deep into it because I didn't own it. Skyrim is very immersive, and despite my need for it to get even more so, it is very, very enjoyable. I almost prefer to play the TES games on console, but I miss mods for these games, because the modders (the good ones) typically make the game's experience so much more. I really miss that about playing them on my PC.

I do love Mass Effect, no matter what people say about it. I'm a Bioware fan, and I thoroughly enjoy just about everything they produce. I was glad when Bethesda put patch 1.4 out for the PS3, I really didn't want to boycott the company and sell all the games I have from them. I was 100% going to do it if they didn't fix a very bad issue on the PS3, but they did so I'm happy :)

Ever since skyrim has came out the game has been like a drug to me I just can't stop playing it and enjoy everything about it. I have tried to play other games bf3 is one of them. And I think if skyrim did not exist then bf3 would be the game that would be housed in my xbox for the past few months. But even though it is a great game and I do enjoy it after about an hour of playing it I have to turn it off and put skyrim back on. as I feel like I'm missing something that I can't really put my finger on.it has really got me obsessed like no other game.I applaud you bethesda.

Ever since the first time i rented Oblivion from blockbuster, ive never taken it back and ive been hooked to TES series and lore since then. I guess b/c i was a huge LOTR fan and this is as close to a LOTR type open world game as it gets. Plus over time ive really gained a lot of knowledge in the lore of the Elder Scrolls. It is definitely by far the best series of gaming ever made, no matter how much i disagree with some of what skyrim has to offer.
