Time limit on anything?

I am wondering somthing.If i just go do nothing all the time will i be punished for doing it, as in will quests dispear or main story line fail or will the game give a bad ending. main thing i'm doing right now theives guild stuff and side missions, i'm only three quests into the main story line..i just wanna run around leveling up stuff


I really dont wanna miss quest that gives me weapons or somthing like that..plus it would svck if i had to start all over again because i missed one quest up

No. That's the beauty of Skyrim; there's no pressure to do anything. You're free to do whatever your heart desires without fear of having to rush.

Nope, although I disagree somewhat with the above. I think having no time limit gives no sense of urgency to some things. Like when you need to find the elder scroll. It makes no sense for you to just completely forget about the main quest and put it aside for 30 in game days, when alduin is about to destroy the world. Time limits on some quests would have been nice IMO.

No you can do the MQ at any time you want, with no time limit's. I had the MQ done by lvl 22 on the char I finaly did it on. But I remember someone posted that they had not done it til somewhere in the 50's. Have fun! That is the most important thing!

It's up to the player to set limits on their play, not the designers. That's what makes these games special. The designers only put in the setting, and players make their own story. It's like when people speed through a quest line and then complain that it's too short, or take 30 days off the main quest and then say it's silly that they can... you're at fault for that... not the developers.

Nope. In RPGs in general, time doesn't really progress without your approval.

I understand what people say tthat some quests would make sense with time limits, but I think it's better the way they've done it here (and that they do in most complex RPGs, for that matter). I can imagine nothing worse than getting your character to a certain point, then hitting the main quest, being forced to progress rapidly - then finding yourself blocked by a fight that's just too hard for you - while realising that if you had time, you would have been able to develop some other skill that would have given you the edge you needed to have a chance.

And for sure, like many things, if people want to roleplay a time limit for certain quests in their own game, there's nothing stopping them.

Personally, I'm glad there aren't any time limits dictating what I have to do when I play. I like to control the story narrative myself, and while I may be strange in this, I sort of 'write in' my own flashbacks. For example, I get a quest that has a sense of urgency but want to so something else first, so I sort of just place the narrative back "a few days prior ..." to a time before being given the urgent quest to fill the audience (myself) in on something that happened before our hero embarked on the urgent quest. Then when I finally get to the quest, I assume I've leaped back to the 'present' and have just been given the task.

It works for me.

I'm not so sure about this. I think if you accept the quest from the Thalmor in Markarth - get the Amulet of Talos - then keep hold of it for too long the quest fails. I'm not sure if it's dependent on you completing "Diplomatic Immunity" in the MQ though.

I think I've done four or five main quest things this run through, and only killed off about six dragons, and I'm level 33 (and got five of those from a glitch last night). It all waits...pretty much.

Thank Talos that there isn't any time limits within the series. My character give up all hope and fall on his axe if there were.

I will clarify one thing I have noticed though....at a certain point in the game, you have to prove to someone that you are dragonborn, and that person says "Meet me at X"...well, I didn't meet them at X and went cruising the towns, and being a booze hound warrior bard I tend to loiter in taverns...each time, the 'person' appeared there. It is like being stalked.

All I can say is, I'm glad I don't have a pet bunny rabbit.
