Skyrim Patch 1.5 brings more that fixes

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 4:26 pm

That's disappointing. There just aren't any special attacks for bows and magic, why would I like to see them in killcam?

Use your imagination....shock spells probably frying people, slow mo arrows to the head, possibilities are there

Better be a huge patch for textures, a FINAL PATCH hopefully.

I could give a rats ass less about killcams, bring my games graphics back!

Not every person in the team will work on fixing a version of the game. Animators are probably not needed there. Hell, not every coder is wanted (too many programmers will just create a mess) so this really doesn't affect the PS3 patching.

Well they should, ps3 version while improved from 1.4 is still not 100% polished and adding in new features is just going to create more bugs and other issues on top of the ones that hasn't been fixed. it seems kinda dumb for them to put more focus on more content than fixing the stability. Not saying they shouldn't add new features just it's not as high of priority atm. :)

Silly, silly, silly. NEVER say that.

Here in PC games land, I sometimes download new patches years after the game has been released. No game can ever be perfect, but good developers can come close.

Are the kill cams going to be optional, like you can turn them off in the options, or untick a .esp file?
Will svck for a lot of people who won't want them otherwise...

I really really hope next update will feature spears or lycantrophy perk tree!

this would be much more interesting than killing cameras :)

Good to see stuff from the Game Jam video trickle into the patches. I hope SSAO and water shader effects are next. They aren't exactly worthy of a DLC but would still be awesome to have in the game.

Ok, that`s evidence. I stand corrected.

But all I see here are killcams. Unless it`s kill cams that you can switch off, I really don`t need it. I didn`t mind it whle fighting in 1st person, but I don`t need the zoom rubbish which I switched off in FO3. I mean how about at least allowing 1st person view on horses? Why is this ignored? Better Followers? Do we really need a kill cam fro arrows which I know I will turn off if given the chance.

Maybe I`m just too old for games like these as it just seems they pander to eye candy kids now. I want substance, not cosmetics.

Another important thing to note here is they only mention one update so far for 1.5 (the kill cam) and bug fixes. They say the rest is in coming updates.

I think some calm reservation is needed here and no one should get too excited until we see what they actually release.

Yeah, I can. But this kind of forced SSAO and DOF has a huge performance impact and isn't nearly as good as 'in-engine' SSAO and DoF. Games that have SSAO and DoF built in run much smoother (e.g Crysis, Just Cause 2) compared to something forced by ENB. Not to mention that forcing SSAO and DoF effects leads to some major graphical artifacts that you would not see if it was built within the game engine itself. With today's graphics cards, something like SSAO shouldn't be that
'expensive', but if it's a brute force algorithm that cannot distinguish between whether something is a rock or a patch of grass, it becomes very costly in terms of FPS.

I doubt we will see spears in a mere patch, because it's a considerable undertaking. They'd need to make several tiers of spears, different models for each tier, modify the existing two-handed or one-handed skill trees (or both!), update the loot tables, update smithing, and possibly other changes I can't think of right now.

Id love some ranged killcams, it always bothered me that in Fallout 3 theres bullet kills but theres no arrow headshot kills in Skyrim :(

As long as its timed and not dependent on the physics...

I love how everyone is getting excited over something being added 5 months into release, that was already in a game that came out 4 years ago. Or don't you remember Fallout 3 had ranged killcams?

FIX: Skyrim Patch 1.5 brings more thaN fixes... sorry for mistake :happy:;

Since it is probably not allowed to speak in detail about it (unless moderators or dev's approve), I'll just mention that the new feature(s) that comes is neat, tough not too revolutionary and was arguably supposed to be in vanilla game. However, it was hinted that more stuff from Gamy Jam video will come so freely get hyped up!

The source? Betehsda Blog... tough the post was either deleted or is invisible but I got notification in my mailbox anyway...
It is on other journalist sites. I say edit the OP and throw it all in there.

Maybe even start a different topic to do so, so this awesome conversation doesn't get deleted if the mods are grumpy with ya (and let's face it - they shouldn't be - it's in the media at the moment) At the moment being a whole month ago.

I'm hoping more awesome stuff from that video make it in!!!!

final patch? Such stuff doesn't exist in gaming industry: it is impossible to squash all bugs in a game unless you patch it for a decade but developers have better thing's to do than support a game for THAT long.

Animators CAN'T help here. Artists neither.
And programmers become inefficient if too many work on the same thing. So naturally you will relocate the rest to other projects.

So if we follow your logic, PS3 situation would just get worse. They could stop giving other users stuff just to make it more just for PS3 users but that would piss many. Most PC and X360 users tend to not care about PS3 issues.

Maybe I`m just too old for games like these as it just seems they pander to eye candy kids now. I want substance, not cosmetics.

Oh don't use too old BS. There are many oldies who do care about it and many newbies who don't.

Indeed. IF we get spears, it will be a DLC to buy most likely. You can argue as much as you want, but thats kind of feature that will hardly be released for free.

I'd be happy if they added an option to capture screenshots on the console versions.

this.

I couldn't care less for killcams, but this would be awesome.
