After all this time I just discovered...

If there are such things as classes for designing game UIs, SR would be held up as a screaming example of what not to do.

There certainly are, and now they are all useless since they can just say "do the opposite of what Skyrim did"

The UI is to Skyrim what level scaling was to Oblivion: "What the [censored] where they thinking!?  :shakehead:" and as such i will take every chance i get to say that :hehe:

when i first played fallout 3 (in third person) i didn't realise you could zoom into your character, i must have actually zoomed right out early into the game because the camera was zoomed right out when i left the vault and i played 80 hrs of the game with a teeny weeny little man in the distance, until my mate informed me duh

I had this down as a ridiculous gimmic from the pre-release hype.

It's actually kinda cool tho and I miss it when I play other RPGs.

To be honest, I didn't know that too.

Then I read about it in the Official Guide as a way of solving some puzzles. I usually don't peek in the guide, at least not so far, but cracked the puzzle without the hint and figured there was an easier way.

It could be that some people did not watch the demo video (like me).

Good question. I knew you could look at the object. So I just looked really hard at the claw and I could just see the line up of the creatures. That`s how I did it. Didn`t know I could roll it around for a better view and all that!

I sympathise...the first puzzle I guessed how to find the answer, and then out of utter frustration I started clicking on the picture and cursing, and it happened by sheer luck.

Edit:

Something to be aware of for those who didn't know about this...the items you twist and turn in the picture will stay how you last angled them, which can be a bit annoying at some times.

Oh, I didn`t know it was a prerequisite to watch a video of some boss demonstrating the game before actually playing it. Hate to be sarcastic, but I am anyway.

When I figured out that I could do this, I thought it was so cool. I discovered it at about 20 hours in.

Todd showed it in the gameplay previews before the game was released. I surprised to know there are people strong willed enough to resist watching those.
