I know it's Skyrim, land of the nords and all, but...

My fav as an Imperial - Do a quest for a Nord....they thank you....you come back and see them later and get "I hate Imperials!" or something to that extent. The old lady in the alchemy shop in Riften is one example of this.

Yes some questgivers swear "cat" after I have helped them. Yes it is an smart thing to say to someone who just cleared out an fort than they are alone.
Most surprised that they have an grand soul :)

There only way to rationalize this so as to prevent it from bothering me is to assume that, being Breton, for all people know I'm just a short Nord or a pale Imperial.

That said, it does svck that there isn't more race-specific dialog for when it is appropriate, like a High Elf talking to Thalmor or Khajiit talking to caravaneers. In both instances you are treated the same as anyone else which doesn't make the least bit of sense.

Yeah, but shes an old bitter beyotch. Why? I found out if you're a Nord and speak to her you get a special dialogue saying "Have you ever thought of returning to Cyrodiil?". Which I thought would just be a random question.. NOPE.

She took it to heart, so hard it was unreal. Saying like "I've been living in Skyrim for 20 years of my life! 20 YEARS! I'll be damned if you Nords try and chase me out!"

My reaction?: WOAHHHH there lady... -.O

You're thinking of the Whiterun alchemist and she says the exact same thing to everyone, not just Nords.

"Best" is neither poor English nor archaic.

Stay in school, kids.

"I cannot best you" is not used any more, that's the point, 'I cannot beat you' is what sounds right today.

Well, if you would compare Nirn and real world history, where would you place it?
21st Century?

I don't see you point but my point was about the wording, which I've never heard before and it sounded wrong, not saying it is wrong, just saying it sounded wrong.

You're still missing the point. The word best, used in this context, is not archaic (that means old and not used any more). It is alive and well in modern English.

For example, some recent sports headlines:

or for you UK folk: http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/welbycc/s/match-report-33722.html?official=0&fixture_id=607654

I had an Imperial noblewoman refer to me as Skyrim trash, with her Imperial guardsman warning me off. Me, being an Imperial and a Legate of the Legion, in uniform, merely offering my assistance.

Immersion breakers like that are horrible for gameplay.

STAY OUT OF TROUBLE, CANADIAN. Seriously, though, all we need now is a mod where defeated enemies say, "A winner is you!" and Redguards that speak in ebonics.

To be fair, I don't often go up to strangers and say "how's it going, European?" or "do you need any help, Asian?"

lol, no.

I know the current trend, especially in america, is to communicate using the most basic, short, root words as much as possible. this does not mean we should devalue the rest of the more precise or colorful words and phrases.

LOL

However, "criminal" is not exactly a race in tamriel lol. Though I have been inclined to call a coworker or two N'wah's and fetchers a time or two. But thats a different topic :P

Of course Asians dont need help! They are super smart! Unless theres something they want from the top shelf...ok that was a bit racist lol. But I dont think I have once heard a comment about me being an Orc, even after finishing the companion quests. Only time I was recognized was at the Orc camps, which are in itself a reason to make an Orc :)

Yup. When i first herd the phrase, I thought it fit very well in a fantasy RPG such as Skyrim. You silly Americans!

I love being recognized by my Bosmeri brethren, one good idea I had was in the beginning you pick your race. Another option would have what language do you speak, and ultimately the language you speak can tell other character's where you were possibly born or raised.

For instance a Bosmer speaking the Hist language. I'd have to be either born or raised in Black Marsh.

Other than that, I try not to kill any of my own race. It had to be done a couple times though like in the DB questline and due to the Five Tenets, that wood elf had to go.
