Ok... Now I see what people meant when they said Shouts are

I've found shouts are vastly underpowered. This really irks me when a dragon can quickly finish me with Ice breath but ether frost move is useless against enemies. Then it takes forever to recharge.

The more I play the game, the more I use shouts. I find there are particular shouts for different situations and they do add to the experience. Some are a bit OP but in general I think they are fine.

Some shouts are better for some types of characters though, so knowing where to get them helps.

then I discovered you needed to hold your button down for the FULL Shout... Ah... Ok, let`s give this a shot on that innocent goat over there. Probably won`t do much.

What he says, "Hold your button down, young one."

(( He says "The longer you concentrate your power, the more powerful your shout will be." Pretty damn obvious to me? ))

Isn't that... The point?

Exactly this, you're meant to be the Dragonborn, which is well, a lot more powerful than a bandit.

I personally don't tend to use shouts, but I've not found them to be unrealistically powerful.

Shouts are indeed op, so op that anyone who learns shouts have half the power of a daderic prince.

actually you gain more power than a daedric prince .-. I was lord Sheogorath for a while and well Dovakiin is more powerful

Shouts work differently in different scenarios.
If used correctly, they can be awesome.

'OP' and 'UP' are terms below my focus.

There was a thread decrying the shouts saying it was too weak/useless so apparently there are opinions that differ from the OP.

In my opinion, most Shouts are only good at lower levels and difficulty, except for slow time and elemental fury which scales with your actual combat potential.
