Why no expansion discs for consoles?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 6:27 pm

Money. Most people are used to downloading any extra content, there's no point paying all that extra money to release it on a disc when barely anyone will buy it.

To be honest, if you're a gamer nowadays and you don't have any way of downloading this stuff, then you have to accept that you're going to miss out sometimes.
Pretty much. I don't like it but I have accepted it for the most part. Thank you for the info.

I understand that that's why I wrote " I realize you can do all this with a pc, but I already have it done with my xbox and it works fine." but I thank you for at least trying to be helpful. It may just be a route I take in the future but I am just curious is all and that's why I made the topic.
I understand your point. But what I really hope is that all expansions for the game will be released on discs for both on consoles and PC. Even I'm PC player and have internet I hate to buy anything without a physical copy. I already lost my chance to play Knights of Nine with Oblivion because it was not available on disc. I don't want to see that happening again.

"So besides screwing loyal fans (svckers) like me out of extra money, is there a REAL reason they can't just sell expansion discs for consoles? Last I checked you could for pcs but I don't know if they do nowadays."

Well they released 4 out of 5 DLCs on disc for Fallout 3, and that was the last game Bethesda Game Studios developed... So hopefully we will get at least 2 out of 3 for Skyrim (by the third they will probably call it good and release Skyrim GOTY version)... and seeing as Skyrim expansions will be bigger we will probably get 1 expansion per disc (as opposed to 2 per disc for Fallout 3)... I hope this is the case cause I just stopped getting live... I hope BGS stays loyal to their console fans (we make up about 44% of sales) and most of those fans dont subscribe to xbox live, Skyrim is one of the most fun games that dosnt require live in any way, keep it that way BGS... Man I really really dont want to wait for GOTY, Skyrim is getting kinda stale for me, one can only fight so many bears before ripping ones hair out, and praying for a creature of actual magical lore to attack me (did anybody else think Skyrim was lacking in the fantasy department? compared to Oblivion that is)... to put it in a nutshell: Bethesda really needs to release expansions on disc for consoles (perhaps around the time they release on PS3 cause it'll give them a month to ship it)

Talasma,

As has been said, the DLC's will appear in the inevitable GOTY edition. I thought it would be good to hear this from a forum member who then did not also insult you.

Lot's of people share your opinion of Xbox gold membership.

Maybe just stop being stupid and either:

Pay for XBL
or
Play on PC

Your problem is solved for PC as there usually are DVD versions of expansions released, or you can just have steam download and install everything for free.

Honestly the only logical reason I can find for someone to play on x360 is if they play multiplayer games and they want to play with other friends who only play on x360.

Skyrim is a single player game. You can plug in your xbox controller and play Skyrim on the PC exactly as it's played on console, except you have access to mods, community bugfixes etc. I personally switch my PC output to my LCD TV, and lay on my bed playing it with my x360 controller, it's essentially playing on x360 without all the limitations and problems that come with the console and XBL.

Why are there people like you who can't understand that people like different things for different reasons?

Some like xbox, some like ps3, some like the pc and some like broccoli.

Get off your high horse, stop thinking your way is the best way, and let it go.

Really. Just let it go.
