Well, guess I`m out!

I didn't know anything that alters the mesh causes a CTD, i thought it was that specific mod. Well, good to know if i run into this in the future.

Thanx.

And this is the REAL reason I made this thread. I knew I`d get some sarcastic stupidity, but I hoped that maybe some people might think of something I hadn`t.

Cheers.

Hope you get your problem solved, it's damn annoying when you hit a brick wall.

btw.. Don't feed 'em ;)

Just curious, but after removing all your mods did you have STEAM verify your files to make sure none of the game files were missing or corrupted? I always do this after removing files just to make sure I didn't delete something I shouldn't have.

I used to have CtD every few hours, which wasn't bad. All I had was a lite skin texture mod, distant terrain mod, and a mod that made the cirlets look better, about 5 in all. I removed them all and only added one that fixes the blocky noses (as I just can't stand that) and I have not have a CtD since, even after 5 to 6 hour plays. This of course tells me I really need to upgrade my PC.

... All I know is the moment that door opens in the Potema quest the game CTDS....
The idea of teleporting yourself is not that bad, especially if you can teleport yourself beyond that door, avoiding the loading process. I'm not familiar with teleporting commands using coordinates but it seems to me to be worth a try. You'll have to figure out what are the good coordinates though. ;)

Yep, this way you can either enable or disable the mods one by one to find the culprit.
Sometimes a good 72 hour wait sessions can sort things out after mods have been disabled too.

I feel very, very sorry for you.

It's a tough one..

I just HATE the bugs in this game. They're many and some of them can really mess you up.

If you're really desperate. Send me the save file and I'll get past the part where it crashes for you.

After many weeks of stability I just clicked on a chest and the game crashed, You are not alone in your frustration... perhaps I should opt out of those Beta patches.

This is why I'm terrified of mods. Removing them won't help as some store data in your save game file, which may corrupt it.

only happened to a few mods usually big conversions, weapon mods and other such mods wont effect much perk mods might haven't tried any on them yet

It will depend on the nature of the perk mods. One I made for personal use caused a problem with enchantments until I added a specific Condition, however in general they should be fine unless you're running another mod that uses a different form of the same perk(s). You're right about the other mods, although some weapon and/or armor mods will 'break' combat rather badly due to what they add.

Blade Watcher,

I am sorry that your game has gone splat. I know how I would feel if it had happened to me. I hope that after a cooling-down period you will start again, not least because I enjoy your posts on this site.

P.S. Don't be too hard on Bethseda, you can't really expect them to guarantee the game will function 100% with every mod and every combination of mod. Its sort of part of the contract isn't it? They let us mod the game as much as we like, but we can't blame them if our game then breaks.

This is REALLY what I was looking for. Some really crucial clues here. many thanks. I was wondering if some kind of clothes mod might be responsible for this.

If you're really desperate. Send me the save file and I'll get past the part where it crashes for you.

thanks for your help, will contact you if I can`t figure this out from the evidence above.

Really I appreciate this, chaps.

OK, fellas and fellanesses :yucky:

It took some slightly weird loading and saving and temporarily removing files, but with info provided above I basically somehow skipped the CTD scene with the opening door and got the game to play as if everything went ok. I don`t like having to do this because it shouldn`t be, but at least I can continue my game now.

Thanks to all of you for your help.

I had super CTDs in Potema's quest a while back, too. I was playing a mage and I guess I figured out that any AoE spells were borking things when combined with all the blue crap flying around.
