hardcoe mode ( eat, sleep, drink...)

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 6:45 pm

Loved FO: NV hardcoe mode and not for the challenge but for the immersion, add a layer of realism to the game that I personally enjoy.

i liked the nv mode, as well, and, ended up turning it back on when i tried to play with it off.

however, that system is the very BARE MINIMUM of what this mode should consist of. if they were to implement something later on and not advance it and become more creative by adding LOTS of additional features, i would be very disappointed.

I would not want something like Fo:NV "hardcoe mode". It was absolutely terrible. I enjoy using the mods; Imps more complex needs, chesko's frostfall and alchemy overhaul(potions heal over time). They provide a much better experience than the boringly simple Fo:NV hardcoe mode.

I prefer instead of lots of addiotional features, few but well implemented.

And console players, we are not...players ???

Apparantly not, and as a PS3 player, this really irks me. I would love to see an optional hardcoe mode with realistic hunger, sleep, etc., along with dark dungeons, and better difficulty sliders. I would also love to see an immersive HUD option as well, so we could keep our invisible health/stamina/magicka bars and loose the rest of the distracting screen clutter.

Bethesda makes absolutely fantastic games but every TES game they make has flaws that can easily be corrected by the PC crowd, but Beth just leaves us console players out in the mud, like we are just a bunch of stupid mudcrabs or something that wouldn't know how to use a real options menu if it bit us in the butt.

I just loved the "http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8707" mod for Morrowind. Not tedious at all, so well done it can be mistaked for Vanilla, and has tons of delicious recipes to make, and bonfires and cooking tools to make them on the fly.

I doubt I'll ever see another hunger/etc. mod like that one. Just superb.

So you're gonna slap moderators now?

Well, when you create threads like this, you know what to expect :) If you create a thread about travelling out of Skyrim, or adding a castle to buy, it'd also happen the same :)

I thought the very reason you played X-box and Playstation, was because you didn't want to deal with the complexity of PCs. You just stick the disk in, turn on the machine. PC complexity is why I quit using consoles after I bought the "super-nintendo". You could just do so much more with a computer for games, and internet, and word processing. Games on PC are very flexible and can be controlled by the player easily, to enhance game experience.

It was Doom and Doom 2 that did it for me. All those player created mods, you just couldn't use with a console, because there was no way to integrate them. The AD&D games for PC like the "Curse of the Azure Bonds" series, that let you save your character's progress, then import them into the next game. Back in the 80's. That couldn't be done with a super-nintendo (best console at the time). So I gave consoles up for good, and just started buying new and better personal computers.

From what I understand, they've made several andvances with the consoles, but they just can't be as flexible as a PC, for playing games.

I am not sure what you are saying here? Yes, the reason I play on a console is because I don't want all the headache a PC brings. Just because someone does not want the headach of a PC does not mean they don't want deep and meaningful roleplaying games.

Obviously, consoles won't support the same graphics a PC would and might not support as many NPCs running around at the same time because consoles do not have the same processing power/RAM as a gaming PC. But I am not talking about stuff like that. I am talking about simple stuff, like an immersive HUD or the ability to turn off the lights in dungeons.

There is no good reason why Bethesda could not implement a better options menu on consoles that let players choose whether to turn off screen clutter like the magic GPS compass and sneak crosshair without loosing the "invisible" health/stamina/magicka bars and the screen text that lets you know what quest reward you just got.

It'd be really interesting to have to :
-eat
-drink
-sleep
-suffer from limb damage (hell, even have to amputate your character if not healed for some time)
-repair your weapon/equipment
-grow hair, beard...

weight, potions over time, limited potions, degradation, no regeneration of health, armor/racial penalties/bonuses, weather penalties, a proper hud option system, no-pause aspects, DiD and no fast travel built into it functionally, etc.

aspects that actually change the gameplay.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, but it would need to be reworked. I still eat a few times a day, drink when I eat, and sleep regularly! =)

add to this
-seasons
-weight of arrows
-DARK DUNGEONS (there are some where light comes from absolutely no where, like from a spider egg clutch)
-sleepiness/hunger/thirst penalties
-addiction to alcohol, potions(?), skooma, some ingredients or food...

I'm not to sure but I think Obsidian has the right's over New Vegas and Bethesda would be sewed for doing so.

Fallout: NV is still a bethesda game. It was published by bethesda, but developed by obsidian under bethesda. So no sueing bro. Also, they wouldnt have a Fallout: NV forum on this website, but they do.

I said it before the game came out and I'll say it again now. hardcoe mode in New Vegas wasn't hard. I just kept food and water on me at all time. Now imagine how much easier hardcoe mode would be in Skyrim: Huge lakes of clean (at least non-radiated) water, beds everywhere, and cheap food at inns. It would only serve roleplayers, as everyone else would find it tedious.

Exactly, roleplayers would love it and everyone else could leave it alone. People don't play Skyrim because it is "hard" because it is clearly not a hard game.

did you actually read some of mine and others' suggestions?

i didn't even list water and sleep and food.

i SPECIFICALLY added hardcoe ideas that would drastically change the gameplay and make it harder.

roleplaying has nothing to do with my toggle options.
