In all honesty, the ground textures may not have been renderred properly in the final copy of the game. Strange how it's been patched 3 times, and there has been no notice or fix of it :l

I'm not saying that they aren't better graphic wise .... I think we are pretty blessed

I do agree, Skyrim has come exceptionally far from Morrowind, and most other available games in the "looking good" department.

I just don't believe there is a size to graphics ratio here, or in any of the other gams - and that is the only defensible point I could have. I wholeheartedly agree with everyone who says "I think the game looks great," and it is a shame for any player who is not able to step by and enjoy the game, despite some areas that are not as "up to date."

I would take some more choices in mage robes for my wizard characters over making the ice look sixier.

Exactly, when I comes down to it, I want a game that I remember not for visuals, but the content itself. I think once people can break the barrier of "gosh, this isn't as graphically tuned as COD, screw this," then they will respect The Elder Scrolls dating all the way back (weird to say) to Morriwind!

I do believe that graphics should be an added bonus. It's sad that it's graphics that sell these days :(

The graphics in skyrim are very good & scale well with all GPU's, However in windhelm there is some floor ice which looks absolutely appaling like dinner plate size pixels, Even with the HD packs & enough texture mods to choke a Donkey.

The OP only mentions the ice in Windhelm & i agree with that point.

If you're fortunate enough to be on PC: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10383

If not... maybe this mod will bring the oversight front and center, much like TESVAL/SkyBoost did with the complete lack of PC CPU optimizations, or like the Large Address Awareness necessity, and prompt BGS to fix it for all.
