I don't have Skyrim on PC but I did it with one of my Oblivion saves. I fixed a few quests, gave myself items unavailable in the console version (Emperor's robes etc.), things like that.
It was fairly simple and well worth it for me.
Emporer's robes ARE available in the console version. I have them, along with the emperor's shoes, and I do not play on PC.
It is a well known trick.
Do NOT give the amulet of kings to jauffre. The moment you do, emperor septim's body disappears from the sewers.
As long as you do not give the amulet to jauffre, thus, moving the main quest forward, emperor septim's body remains laying in the sewers.
You can be 200 hours in and his body will still be there.
The trick is to ressurect his corpse with the staff of worms, then kill the resurrected corpse.
Line your crosshairs up on his corpse. Save your game.
Reload that save and loot his corpse the moment the save loads before his corpse disappears (despawns) this will allow you to loot the emperor's robes and shoes.
It is a well known trick. I did it on several playthroughs back in 2008/2009.
