Shadowmere was kidnapped by a butterfly and now is gone?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:27 am

Awesome thread :)

Shadowmere was chasing Butterflies
and floated happily away.
I witnessed this event, no lies!
Please, my trusted horse, please stay.

And this made it even more awesome.

...this might explain why the headless horseman decided to fly into space.

I've seen that too. Wheee! Also been pushed 10 foot sideways by a dragonfly so I can believe it.

Now that you mention that: it could have been a dragonfly ... I was so amazed by Shadowmere suddenly taking off, that I only did see a faint moving "butterfly" under 1 of the hooves. Don't recall if it was coloured or not.
Ah well, maybe the butterflies/dragonflies are feeding off at the Nirnroot with it's atomic (glow) power? ;)

Shadowmere is a He in this game.

Shadowmere was a She in Oblivion.

Since Astrid said, Shadowmere he is a fine horse. She states that Shadowmere is a He.

Okay, no joke this: I was on the plains outside of Whiterun riding on Shadowmare. Dismounted to get some ore and suddenly Shadowmare took off into the sky? She was just floating upwards with a butterfly right beneath her that flew upwards and where the butterfly went, Shadowmare went. She was kidnapped by a freaking butterfly!?
Figured I would get her back at one of the stables but so far no Shadowmare, I guess she is floating happily somewhere in Skyrim heaven :(

Shadowmere is of Deadra and has no gender. Astrid refers to SM as both he and she in Skyrim.

I don't know anything about the Shadowmare history but I only did call her she because of her name. If it would be a male, then the name would have been Shadowstallion or Shadowstud, right? ;)

Looking at your "little Britain" avatar.... thinking about he / she question.
Maybe Shadowmare only pretend to be a lady.

But does it matter right now?
What matters is that a butterfly with a gigantic trollface stole your horse. :)

LOLOL :D Little Britain rules. Especially that character: I used to do some play on stage and one time I had to play a lady with male things in it. Was rather hilarious, me being male, 2 meters tall and a very low voice by nature in a tight dress and doing lady things :P

But does it matter right now?

And that is indeed what matters. He/she/it is still gone, still floating. I think it/she/he is now on the edge of space :P

I am reading this during a lecture in the university, I burst out laughing and the whole auditory fell silent... And they are looking at me... and I am still... laughing...
I like this.
And this may be the funniest thread I've ever seen, but it'd be tough cause I do love me some Shadowmere

I think as he's laying broken and dying from dropping out of the sky - not to mention having his uber death horse of the DB status being severely undermined by a butterfly, Shadowmere may just hate you for adding this last, small indignity of thinking he was a girl...

Shodowmere is a somewhat traditional horse name since mere means lake and is often used in horse names because of associations with legendary water horses of Celtic mythology. One of my own (male) horses was called Ashmere. Not to be confused with mare (a female horse) which would make a gelding feel even more, ah gelded?

Now that you mention it: how cool would it be if there would be an actual MOD to replace Shadowmere with a My Little Pony? :P

I actually think he is still floating somewhere. It's been a while now (many Skyrim days) and still he did not respawn which normally happens when you loose sight of Shadowmare.
Just found a console command that can locate an object, lets see if that works. Will post screenshot if I found him somewhere floating :P
