Shadowmere was kidnapped by a butterfly and now is gone?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:29 pm

Okay, no joke this: I was on the plains outside of Whiterun riding on Shadowmare. Dismounted to get some ore and suddenly Shadowmare took off into the sky? She was just floating upwards with a butterfly right beneath her that flew upwards and where the butterfly went, Shadowmare went. She was kidnapped by a freaking butterfly!?
Figured I would get her back at one of the stables but so far no Shadowmare, I guess she is floating happily somewhere in Skyrim heaven :(

 Now i knew butterflies were strong enough to push a galloping horse aside, but actually lifting one in the air?

Beware the butterflies!

Anyway, have you checked the place where you originally got her?

fixed

If the butterfly flew out from under Shadowmere and he fell to his death, he will respawn wherever he landed in 15-30 days.

Actually, Shadowmere was always meant to be a he. Lucien Lechance is a noob when it comes to horses.

Never heard of Gelding? It was extremely common for warhorses to be gelded.

I know this, but no-one who has ever seen a horse would call Shadomere a 'he' after seeing it.
There are some quite.. obvious anatomical reasons for this

In fact, none of Skyrim's horses are male.
Moreover.. I dont think Ive seen a male horse in a videogame or cartoon ever :ahhh:

That's it, I'm going to buy a horse just to jump him on top of a butterfly and watch him float away to Sovngarde. In related news, this thread wins the award for Most Hilarious Thread Title of the Year!

Well, an intriguing addition to the 'strange things I've seen in Skyrim' meta thread.

As to the OP, try fast travel to the DB HQ and see if the butterfly returned her to the pond.

This.

Whenever I fast travel anywhere, Shadowmere shows up, and it doesn't have to be either DB location.

Good luck.

LOLOL sorry, couldn't help myself!!!!!!!!!! This is tooooooooooo funny! Sorry OP, I love Shadowmere and I feel your loss! ;)
Yea, check the Sanctuary, hopefully Shadowmere has safely landed in the pond, from which he spawned originally. :D

LOLOL Thanx for all the comments! :P
Indeed I have seen mammoths drop to their deaths from the sky in the plains outside Whiterun, so maybe there is a whole butterfly gang active there? :P

Shadowmere is still somewhere in the sky, she has not been returned to either 2 DB bases nor is she showing up at any stable. But if she ever falls, then she will not return somewhere because I think she will reach terminal velocity (just like the mammoths) and die.
Ah well, if ever needed I am sure she can respawn with a console command ;)

EDIT: Holy crap! Maybe the mammoths dropping is from butterflies getting stuck under them!

It may explain the backward flying dragons I used to see. They were fleeing in panic due to spotting a dangerous butterfly.
