Clothes Only?

I actually think the Thalmor robes look sweet for an assassin, too bad the robes are already enchanted..

Well.. I liked them for my mage character cause they do look pretty good.

My sneaky bard wears only clothes...you will die really quick in combat but it satisfies the RP itch

So I'm thinking about making an assassin char and was thinking from a RP point of view wearing just clothes would fit better for blending in and all. So I was wondering if you guys have done a clothes only build and how it works out.

Yea I'm thinking I almost need to [use Alteration shield spells] with clothes only

Shield spells? Are you not an assassin? What good are armor and shield spells when no one will ever even see you? :ninja:

And if you're detected... well, assassins have no honor. Run the other way, lose your pursuers, and then stab them in the back.

(Note that these are just ideas, I'm not dictating how you're supposed to play.)

I don't change outfits just to match the scenery because it's a minor PITA. Also, I often forget to change back into combat gear. My current character has been insta-killed in her alchemy-enchanted hide helmet and Orcish gauntlets of Major Alchemy while wearing nothing else but her skivvies more than once.

But it is lame to be walking around a town in DB, TG, or NG armor. Two out of the three are known criminals and the third looks like Death is walking down your street. But the DB hood and mask would look sweet while also wearing Radiant Raiment's fine clothing to the Blue Palace. :run:

I have never used anything else but clothes, I love it.

You might want to try looking for mods that allow you to have clothes looking gear that gives some defence. If not maybe playing on Adept is a good way to work around it unless you want to have a challenge.

I've also considerd a Cloths only Thief/Hunter type. But i'd mainly be hiding & using my bow, so it would be easier for this type of character, becasue your not in direct confrontation.

I've had just clothes but usually will enchant them and you can use mage spells for protection if needed. I tend to go with fur armour at times.

Currently playing an assassin clothes only (Mourners clothes) but only level 18 on adept. Works fine so far. No alteration, just bound sword and bow (so I don't actually have to carry weapons so I look like just an average citizen) with sneak and illusion. But I can be one shot by draugr deathlord's bow. Haven't fought dragons (haven't started MQ) or enchanted yet, not sure if I will but will most likely need to at higher levels for the enchant bonuses.

All of my pure mages (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Skyrim/Skyrim054.jpg, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Skyrim/Skyrim152.jpg, and http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Skyrim/Skyrim143.jpg) are armor-free. I even created a mod that allows you to craft clothing versions of all the Fur Armor in the game, just so Kachina http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Skyrim/Skyrim144.jpg.

I have no issues playing any of these characters, as they are almost never in a position to get hit in the first place.

My favorite character to play as, Gutslit, almost always wears a Novice Hood with black robes or a Hooded Mage's Robe. He doesn't want anyone to see what he looks like under the robe and hood, so only wears armor if he has to. Most of those times when he wears armor is if he knows the person will be dead somehow. Making extremely scarce use of armor makes Skyrim much more fun.
