Ask a bartender about work, go take care of the bounty and keep all the good stuff the bandits have, return and sell them. That is how i make quick gold

Mining. Learn the transmute Ore spell. Then mine all the Iron Ore you find, Halted Stream Camp, Emershard Mine and Left Hand Mine. Transmute it to Gold Ore, sell it to Pavo at Kolskeggr Mine. Mine Kolskeggr mine and sell the gold ore there to Pavo again. Travel to the Orc Stronghold near Windhelm, mine the ebony ore there and sell it to the Orc Blacksmith. Mine the ebony ore from the Mine in Shor's Stone as well before travelling there.

This can net you 8,000 gold easy within about an hours worth of playtime. Transmute can take a while if you don't have high magicka, but you can always purchase some apparel to boost it significantly.

Should note Pavo will sometimes also offer you a quest to clear Kolskeggr mine of Forsworn, this seems to occur in an endless cycle and he will constantly give you 1,500 gold for it every 30 days, thing is Forsworn don't actually respawn there, so you get 1,500 gold for nothing.

If you want to take another detour go to Karthwasten. A lot of silver ore in the mine there, transmute it to Gold and sell it to Pavo once again.

Don't sell the gold, turning it into jewlery is far more profitable and it increases your smithing.

I wants 100k sir

You need gems for that as well do you not ?

You can also buy iron ore off of blacksmiths in every city and transmute it. This is less tedious than mining all those other places.

Well I had 100k by the time I reached Riften. That was roughly 50-60 hours worth of playtime. It's much easier to earn more gold when you are at a high level, as you get more valuable loot.

Are we talking about the same character? Your Speech is 100 and you have trouble with gold?

It depends really, getting good in this game is insanely easy without the perks, but with the perks getting rich is even faster for roleplaying reasons they are great as well, I was going to get the mercantile perks for my main character when I make him but I had to sacrifice them in favor of being more proficient in all schools of magic, my point is choose what you want based off of roleplaying reasons.

Some of the Speechcraft perks are very useful, like being able to sell any item to any merchant. Like, I was always bugged by not being able to sell anything but weapons, armor and gems/ores to Ulfberth in Whiterun, while Belethor couldn't afford it all, and I had to keep going to Falkreath and Solitude.

(Though, I use a PC mod which increases merchants' available gold as well, because I grew tired of the finite gold system.)

Here we have an excellent example of the flexibility of mods. I grew tired of infinite gold, so I use a mod (Cutthroat Merchants) which decreases the gold I get from transactions:
100 speech - 20% sell / 500% buy
0 speech - 7% sell / 1500% buy

As a comparison, this is Vanilla:
100 speech - 50% sell / 200% buy
0 speech - 30% sell / 330% buy

I also use a mod that increases carriage travel prices to 500 gold per trip. In vanilla I would start passing up bowls and apples and clothes by level 15 because I had more than enough gold by then. With these mods I collect everything I can get my grubby little hands on because at level 20 I still may not have enough gold to pay for a carriage. Regular dungeon diving becomes a necessity. ;)

Quite. It's great how you can customise to suit your tastes. I found myself running out of gold relatively fast on my mage because of expensive training at the College, for instance. I dislike using console to just "player.additem f 99999" to get gold, but this mod felt more all right.

How the heck did you manage to get 100? I've played at least 200 hours and I'm not even past 40!

sell and buy a lot.

it's insane... my first character was the same as yours. my mage now buys all the time for alchemy and especially cooking. this little things helped me. i think i am already over 40 while my mage is now lvl 13. with the amulet of dibella almost all my persuations work already, even without perks.

i don't like putting points into this tree.... as the higher the skill is, the better prices you get and the easier are things like persuation. so i rather put them into fighting, or with this char magic, skilltrees, because they do not naturally get better.

btw. for the ones that don't know yet. i buy cooking stuff, because you can make "eslweyr fondue". adding 100 magicka and 25% magickaregen for about 10 minutes.

Forgot about the sell any item to merchant perk. That is actually REALLY useful.

Yea this. As i usually keep my alchemical ingredients, all the alchemy shops are always sitting on piles of gold rotting away. Now i can sell random crap to them, and they can't do a thing :D

But..but..don't you like looking at that enormous pile of gold at home? And thinking how long can you barricade yourself in your house with rations bought with gold. Another reason why i keep all the food i find :D I can open my food cupboard and oogle at it.

3 deep.

I for one love the merchant perk. It's not just for the money, it's the convenience.
Ha! You are correct! I was thinking "every" item as in stolen items as well. Still when I level up, I ask myself this...

Do I want to increase my damage, my protection, or gain the ability to get more gold?

I never seem to get past the first two.

Most the perks for Speechcraft add gold. No one needs more gold in this game. Especially if they are already high enough level to have a 100 in Speechcraft. Sure some perks might help you intimidate or persuade someone, but you can always bride them for about 100 gold.

The same with most the Pick Pocket and Lockpicking skills, the perks are useless. I can't believe Bethesda didn't realize this as they play-tested the game.

I find the speechcraft perks to be practically useless. Questing and looting dungeons brings in a lot of money, and the smithing area in Windhelm is all you need to unload your goods (there are four merchants there), so merchants having extra money/merchants buy anything is useless IMO. Money can easily be made even without questing with alchemy (giant's toe+wheat), transmuting iron ore into gold and making jewelry, and enchanting (iron daggers with paralyze, absorb health, or banish enchantments). And with speech at 100, I don't think any persuasion attempts will fail. But even if they can fail, those opportunities are so few and far between that spending perk points in the speechcraft tree seems pointless (no pun intended).
