Well Master Trader adds 1000 gold to every merchant in the game. That's my main reason for adding to speech. There's also a perk that boosts persuasion attempts by 30%. As well as perks that increase how much you get when you sell goods. I've invested quite a bit in speech.

Really just comes down to wether or not gold matters to you, as well as peaceful resolutions to certain potential conflicts.

Every perk is useful: Better prices, persuasion success, Sell any item to any merchant, Sell stolen goods to any merchant. Put in perks if you want to get rich

Well I have 702,800 gold. I haven't used any exploits or anything, so yes it's boosted my wealth considerably, I would have had much less than that if I hadn't.. Also means you don't need to visit numerous cities to offload your loot from a dungeon, with Master Trader merchants in Whiterun have a total of 12,000 gold, no amount of loot from one dungeon should come to that much.

Forgot about the sell any item to merchant perk. That is actually REALLY useful.

i never put points in it but if you want information from npc's easier or wan't to talk your way out of some situations without fighting it can be good but imo all other perks are better and it's not that it makes any difference in what you can accomplish as far i know and there's enough loot to offset any minor gold income from it.

It's not that I find the Speech perks...useless. I just have other areas that demand the perk points. I mean there is an unlimited amount of gold to be had anyway. And how many "persuasion" checks are there? 10? 20? Even if it's 50+ you can just select the other options to get by it and then there is an option to buy out.

I just see better places to spend them. Perks spent in Alchemy and Enchanting will yield more gold as a side effect. So why not use that to your advantage?

You must admit the "sell any item to any merchant" perk is pretty useful.

It also lets you buy items that normally aren't available in shops like pearls, "Powdered Mammoth Tusk" and small pearls.

Yes, but that perk is 5 deep in the tree. I Always have other trees that could use 5 perks more that that one.

How the heck did you manage to get 100? I've played at least 200 hours and I'm not even past 40!

3 deep.

I for one love the merchant perk. It's not just for the money, it's the convenience.

Sell a ton of loot. I've been playing for 300 hours and I'm only 98. The Thief or Lovers stone helps speed it up, or you can always use trainers.

I usually train speech in most Bethesda games. I do it in Fallout as well. I always try to play as a righteous and good person and that seems like something a good person would work on.

Use a trainer. I never pickpocket but I imagine it's pretty difficult to level it to begin with, probably end up in jail a lot or paying fines.. Try pickpocketing people when they're sleeping.

Should also probably boost your sneak first.

Also make sure to take light items, heavier items make the chances of getting caught greater.

Paralysis Poisons. After you get the poisoner perk in the PP tree just slip some of the paralyze poison into their pocket. When they hit the ground yu can PP anything from them without getting caught regardless of skill level. Use this trick on a PP trainer and you get all yur money back + the training you bought

Well I leveled pick-pocketing by training with that pick-pocket trainer in windhelm and then try to pick pocket the gold back.

I′ve read that you can find a pickpocket trainer and buy 5 skill levels, then save and use pickpocket to steal your money back. Hopefully you level and can train 5 times again and repeat. I personally don′t use tricks such as this, but it′s your call :)

I don't think that counts as an exploit, a good pickpocket would steal their money back off the trainer this way..

Remember though you can only train 5 times per level. So plan it carefully, if you want to raise other skills through trainers then use them all in the one level, then level up and do it again.
