Am I the only person who really wants flying vampire lords?

I am excited about the new DLC and the Vampire content, BUT I have no desire to become a Giant Floating Imp Lich

They will grow on you lol

I admit that I'm a little more open to it now that it seems that rather than just slopping it together and throwing them into the game they're devoting a DLC to their introduction and will hopefully come up with some good lore behind it.

Still think I'm going to end up wiping them out instead.

I do not think vampire lord form is going to allow the flight you guys are making it out to be. I think you will only be able to hover at a certain height, not fly up into the air at the height of mountains.

I also noticed a vampire bursting into a cloud of bats.
That would be an awesome way to travel around at a faster rate, and something I would see being cool as a way to fly high up into the air without being able to attack from high in the sky. Moving around as a flock of bats sounds sooooo deliciously evil.

But I am betting Vampire Lords only get to hover at about 5-10 feet in the air.

I don't understand why not if you're playing an evil magical character.

My main character will be trying to kill them, but it's one awesome helluva option to have for an evil character.

Also, the way the Dovakhiin with the orange eyes walks along in human form sort of hunched over in a sinister way is something I hope is actually seen live in the game.

The vampire lord form would be a great transformation you induce when necessary, but most of the time you walk in human form. But having that sinister gait he has in the video would be a cool way to still feel like an evil vampire while in human form.

It is probably just something they cooked up for the cinematic look of the preview, but I am holding out hope for it.

But then again, maybe having orange eyes makes you the champion of the Dawn and an enemy to vampires.

Personally, it's because true evil and villainy requires subtlety. It's part of my problem with Jackson's Lord of the Rings. In the prolog you see Sauron dressed up in a way that is so overtly evil it's unbelievable that anybody would trust him at all. Rather than having a character that looks like he constantly shouts "BLARG! I AM EVIL!" I prefer to be an evil character who is much more cloak and dagger, acting as if I'm your friend when really I just want to lead you down the path to ruin.

You know, like Ulfric Stormcloak. :D

Don't get me wrong. I will be trying it out, but I am afraid that is where it will end...

Just like crafting Dragon Armor and becoming a Werewolf. I done it to try it out and that was it.

It would be cool if we turned into a single large bat. Oh wait..

It must svck for you playing a game with things that aren't mundane that are going on all around you. I don't see why having the option is so grating for you. I think Deaderic armor would be more acceptable if there was a story behind it myself. Learning to make supernatural armor using the hearts of demons should take an intriguing questline.

There is a time and place for realistic psychological depth and there is a time and place for timeless archtypes and mythological aesthetics. If you want to roleplay something realistic, get a job as a janitor and don't worry about saving the world. You don't have to be the dovahkinn, and I don't see why you would want people to be deprived of these experiences because you find them tacky.

There are evil gods in this world, and there are evil politicians. You can be both if you really want.

I don't like it when people base their criticism alone on what they find aesthetically pleasing, the idea of things not being mundane enough in a role playing game is something I can't stand to hear used as criticism by people over the years. Sometimes people want a story about Superman or a messiah. Sometimes somebody takes these archtypes and turns them on their nose, like George RR Martin, who makes the rapists wearing black the saviors of the realm and many of his gods man made cultural constructs drawing from a natural power force.

The Elder Scrolls has never been the story about a mundane man in a mundane world, and it just seems like someone is nit picking considering the prior games and the prior content to make this a matter of contention.

I understand where you're coming from, I've had a bad week. Maybe I am taking it out on you. If so I apologize.

I said that the vampire lord form doesn't appeal to me because I prefer my evil characters to be subtle and not trumpeting from the mountaintops that they are evil. Realism has nothing to do with it. I didn't say I think you should not be able to play as them. In fact, if Bethesda had included them but not given you the option to play as them I'd be really upset. True, I'd rather Bethesda spent their time on other things that I find more appealing, but what's done is done and there's nothing else that can be done about it. I'll probably try the vampire lords to see what they're like, but it's not something I'm chomping at the bit to play as.
