Am I the only person who really wants flying vampire lords?

If we do have a vampire lord I hope it looks something like this http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Volkihar_Vampire?image=Artofskyrim_013_femmonster-jpg

If someone doesn't take down that page, I will. That's not even a Volkihar vampire. It was in the art book and it was a concept for the Pale Lady or the Wisp or something.

Interesting choice, would be a pretty scary sight for a player that is a non vampire every time I see that picture I think of the first ever vampire in TES

I really, really hope they aren't. It looked horrible, and I don't really think it goes well with already established lore - it is nothing like the Cyrodillic vampires in Oblivion and Skyrim, nothing like the Voikhar mentioned in Immortal Blood and also nothing like the three vampire bloodlines in Morrowind. I think the Daggerfall vampires were similar to Morrowind's.

I agree. It looked awful, & I mean that in every sense.
The character model looked completely identical to the vampire monster thing in those horrible, awful Underworld movies, which is to say it looked like utter crap. It'd make no sense in the lore, it's absolutely nothing like the cultured Cyrodillic vampires, it doesn't sound like Volikhair, or the organized clans of vampires in Daggerfall, & Morrowind. It's not even reminiscent of some of the weirder vamps like in Valenwood, or Black Marsh.
Also, I can't be the only person who's hoping against all hope, that they don't stick flight of some sort in the game, it just seems like a bad idea.

Besides, if you want to play a character who turns into a big, slavering monster & rips people to shreds, play a werewolf.

I think they look awesome, I don't see the problem people have. Underworld 2 and Coppola's Dracula both have humanoid bat vampires that kick all manner of booty. An ancient or very powerful vampire after significant advancement should be a monster, not some idealized human.

Yet it is lauded as one of the finest creature creations in the last 15 years by industry professionals. Steve Wang is one of the all time finest movie monster makers in history, I think I will appeal to authority on this, snug within a blanket of fallacy.

While I would be completely satisfied with what was in the GameJam video, I would like to see them fleshed out a little bit more. Those wings were too puny. I'm thinking this would be good: http://fond-d-ecran-gratuit.org/photos/dracula-van-helsing.jpg

I don't like the look of it at all, and I don't like the "imp minions." I can't seem to find anything supporting it according to lore, and I'd much rather have vampires like the ones that are supposed to be native to Skyrim included instead.

That's wonderful, & on a technical level, yes. It's quite impressive.
However, I'm still of a mind that on an aesthetic level, it looks like crap. It's a ridiculous, greasy, spiny, mess.

To everyone who says Winged Twillights and Daedra Seducers have wings: they are daedra that are supposed to fly - it is in one of their names. Vampires are not daedra. We might as well give werewolves wings.

This thread is mainly for the lords but if you guys have other vampire related things to talk about its fine. Just try and make it relevant to the topic.

Much like lycans i doubt we will get to fight them in the wilderness. Maybe just 1 as part of a quest

Well if we all post that we want to fight them in the wilderness too...then we will. :)

I'm excited about it, my current character is lvl 30 and has been a vampire since lvl 5.
I'm pretty excited about the DLC in general and what it means for a vamp character.

If "lord" is maybe a new stage beyond 4, I can't wait to see what abilities come with it, if those wings allow flight I'll freak out. Mid-air battles with dragons man! lol

The monstrous appearance doesn't worry me either as I spend a lot of time in stage 4 anyway so I know how to avoid trouble from the torch and pitchfork brigade.
I hope daylight has severe penalties (I'd even be stoked with death) for lords balanced by an awesome powerset... maybe even a perk tree?

Lords should need to feed more often but can feed off anyone at anytime (those new animations eh?).

...and you know those crossbows are intended for vamp hunters, I believe the Dawngaurd are going to be a society like the Silver Hand and the Vigil.
So players will be able to choose, non vamp players can become Dawngaurd, vamps can battle them?

Just idle speculation, but yeah... stoked for the bloodsvcker love being revealed lately.

I agree with all this BUT i think the lord is just going to be a form like lycans rather than a stage

Like I said in the last thread your not the only one. I know some people aren't all that thrilled about them though.
Some people, and aren't all that thrilled? That seems a little understated, considering there's whole threads filled to the brim with hate comments against them, stating how winged Vampire Lords are defiling and ruining TES lore, and is one of the worst things they've ever come up with. I personally have no opinion on Vampire Lords myself, one of the reasons being that I want to wait and see what the final implementation is and another being that I want little to do these discussions, but it seems a lot of people are taking great issue with the possible inclusion of Vampire Lords for various reasons. That's actually why I'm a little surprised that it appears that they will be included in Dawnguard in some shape or form. There are people who are stoked about them, though, but I'm definitely seeing a lot of hate.
