Silver Weapons?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 2:36 am

So with a DLC adding more vampires, will the Silver weapons finally gain some favor? I liked that the Silver weapons are in the game, and their description indicates that they do more damage to undead. The wiki says they add 20 damage to both undead and werewolves. But the problem with them is you can't upgrade them so they are quickly out matched by non-silver types of weapons.

So do you think Silver weapons will finally get some attention in Dawnguard?

Spoiler
I am also curious if you are going to join the Dawnguard if getting Dawnbreaker first is a obvious choice.

More, and upgradeable, silver weapons would be good. How about the ability to infuse existing weapon types with silver, say, adding a silver ingot to the ingredients list when smithing?

Silver forging would be awesome

There should at least be silver arrows (and bolts for crossbows)

It'd be nice to see a greater range of silver weapons as well as the ability to forge and temper them. Gone are the days of carrying some silver weapon just in case the undead are present in a dungeon.

Actualy silver weapons add 20 to the base damage modified by enchantments and perks against undead and lycanthropes. If we could temper them they'd outmatch the other weapon materials given the percentage of enemies that are undead

Hopefully. Plus I would like the Lunar Forge to finally be usefull for something.

Using the Lunar Forge to protect the sun from the ennemies of the night just has a little something to it. But somehow I'd be willing to bet Bethesda didn't think about it and the Lunar Forge will remain useless.

That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I don't know of any Perks in the One-Handed or Two-Handed weapon tree that affect undead or WW. I also don't know of any enchantments you can add that are just for undead or WW. I guess I understand adding 20 points of damage to the base of the weapon. But Silver weapons SHOULD outmatch other weapons when used against undead and WW, that's the whole point of using them. Right?

Unless you are saying the 20 extra points are modified by perks that add 20%/40%/60%/etc. to the damage. So instead of 20 it's 24/28/32/etc. That's actually pretty good.

Hadn't thought of the Lunar Forge. Fighting vampires in a 'night' world with weapons that do extra damage at night (though I think that's currently bugged) would be a nice addition also.

I agree. The Lunar Forge and weapons are unique, but the place is guarded by weak bandits and the weapons aren't actually anything special. The Lunar weapons seem like an idea that was the victim of deadlines, and never fully realized. Why create a unique forge and weapons, but not actually make them powerful?

I also miss needing to keep silver weapons around in case if I ran into a dungeon with ghosts. I never bother looting the weapons in Skyrim.

I found silver weapons to be kind of pointless in Skyrim.

I hope so. Upgradable Silver weapons, unique Silver weapons, and the ability to buy Silver would be just awesome.

Actually I can totally see there being a shop keeper in Dawnguard Castle selling Silver weapons.

That would make sense. Silver bolts should be obvious at least.

I could settle for that at the least.

Not only do ghosts in Skyrim not require that you do anything that you wouldn't do against a regular bandit, but you can actually grab them when doing finishing moves. They might as well be bandits wearing bed sheets, like in some Scooby Doo cartoon.

I believe that the war axe we saw on Dawnguard trailer may be silver one.
