Dawnguard Pretty Buggy?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:18 pm

Beta testers are getting paid to test a buggy product, I don't see an issue.,

Um, who are you talking too? As this topic has little to do with that. :teehee:

Having 500-1000 people beta test it

I bet over half of them are only testing because they want to play the DLC early.

That's pretty much guaranteed, which really makes me wonder why they opened it to new people. I mean yea sure I get they may want the opportunity. But your dedicated fans would already have an account, would be more willing to actually beta test, and there would be a lot less of that going on most likley.

And they will be bored with it by the time it officially launches for everyone else.

they said it themselves with all the stuff they did in one week in the game jam video..."imagined if we worked like this every week?"

so that implies theres a lack of enthusiasm or laziness with addressing problems and fixing them in a timely manner.

dont get all angry face at me because i point out the truth. I love the elder scrolls games but i feel beth gets too complacent with their success and really needs to focus on more QA before pushing things out and awaiting us to complain about it

That's really what you took away from that? Really?

That's completely, utterly not what he was saying. At all. Your listening comprehension skills are extremely lacking. He was talking about the fact they usually have to work under tight schedules, controlled deadlines, and constantly work backwards to find flaws/bugs/problems in order to move forward again. When they did the game jam, they were given a week with NO schedule, NO meetings, NO expectations and NO coding restrictions.

That doesn't imply laziness at all, in any way, shape or form.

My main reason that I want to test is since I never win these sorts of things. ._. Mostly, I want to help.

There's a reason they call it beta testing, you know.

The issue was never them beta testing, the thing I took issue with is the time-frame in which they are trying to do a beta test.

That's why they need more beta testers, to speed things up. So long as the devs can fix it fast enough, it will available the 26th with much less bugs.

Quickly trying to fix bugs never works out, it only causes more bugs...

I'm more concerned with the bug where becoming a Werewolf, curing yourself, then becoming a Vampire makes you unable to feed so you end up stuck at stage 4 forever. This bug already messed up one of my character saves and I have no doubt it will show up for more people with the release of Dawnguard.

I enjoy the Companions quest line, it will be pretty disappointing if I have to skip it when playing Dawnguard content to avoid major bugs.

i hope that bug was unique to you because i just created a guy to try being a vamp and thought i would get the companions done 1st so i can finish it and then become a vamp. What system are you playing on?

I usually go werewolf asap with all my characters for the disease immunity with no need to feed...getting a disease in the middle of a quest annoys the hell out of me

well since its going to be exclusive to xbox for a bit, they can let alot of people do the beta, because they would still be racking in a huge profit, and hopefully a near bug free release. which would make people want to buy it more, because it isnt going to annoy them to the point of death.

I really don't think there going to let "a lot" of people into the beta, and a near bug free release is practically unheard of today.

And another article on that website states that there will be only one crossbow in the DLC, entitled Crossbow, but there will be different bolts.

Yes, this post is a little off topic.

If that's true, I wonder if the different bolts would each have significant levels of damage. Enough to balance it with the bow, perhaps?

As a pc player I'm not concerned, as it's the Xbox players who will deal with most of them first so I get a more patched version :bunny:

Is there anyone here who never experienced a single irritating bug from Bethesda except me? My games only crash once in a while, and I'm guessing it's cause of the mods. I'm starting to think that 1. People find a tin can floating on a table and come here to exaggerate, or 2. I have a special unbuggy edition of their games. Never seen a "flying mammoth" or a reverse dragon...
