hardcoe Skyrimer's?

Do any of you guys play ONLY dead-is-dead? I've been doing this the past few months and have gone through four characters. My latest one reached level 25 until just last night, he met his end when four members of the Silver Hand killed me. I was beheaded which was no doubt the most epic end to any of my dead-is-dead characters. However, I really do not want to start over again, although there are a few perks I wish I hadn't taken. I need to some help to NOT restart, because every moment that I continue with this character just doesn't seem right. I know it sounds pretty silly but when you've been playing this way for a while continuing with a character that you've seen die feels like you're cheating the system.

I always play dead-is-dead, instead of restarting make a new character and try to understand what you did right and wrong. Both in terms of character development and also in how you progressed through the world itself.

That must be a pretty painful decision, but if I was you I would go the way that is the most fun, whether its making a new character, or starting over.

This.

It's painful to let a character go after death... but luckily Nocturne has lasted for three Elder Scrolls games now. Due to careful planning and very slow progression through dungeons and such, he has led a very long life.

Vampirism doesn't hurt his survival either...

But should he die (I've become quite attached to him), I might actually mourn for a bit.

I'm re-starting. Ha. I just hate doing the quests over and over. All of the Thieves guild stuff.

But dead-is-dead is the ONLY way that I can make sure I go through the game very, very carefully. You have to think everything out, and I love that. Plus I want to make sure Louis Letrush doesn't come back, :)

Dead-is-dead is also the only way for me to not just run into battles over and over, get killed and just re-load. I hate doing that.

Dead IS dead, by continuing to play you violate the whole point of it. You have sinned and should feel bad about it, now go and place a flag on the tip of every mountain in Japan as penance.

Exactly.

If you restart with the same character... then it's not a DiD game...

I always play whatever I enjoy the most, I'll try high difficulty settings but if you don't enjoy it then why bother... If I were you I would go mental as I can't stand putting time into a character and then losing them :/

I like to play the same character, just back from the start.

That's why we get so attached to our characters in DiD. Because we invest so much into their lives and survival.

I have a save, right out of the cave from Helgen that I usually re-load. Are you saying that doesn't "count?"

Not if you rebuild the same character that just died.

I wish they would actually impliment a "hardcoe" mode, where I would not even have the option to reload. I don't even try dead-is-dead, because I know myself and I would cheat and reload with some lame excuse that "that death was not my fault!!" :)

Yeah, I guess that kind of defeats the purpose. I'm making a new Imperial. Different name, different back story.

Play what you like. I personally don't have hundreds of hours to put into a character, die, then restart all over again. Most of you will come to understand this when you work full time, are in college, and maintain a healthy relationship with someone of this opposite gender (This is in no way a slight against anyone posting on this topic, I'm just assuming most of you guys are of the younger age and do not have prior obligations to uphold). My brother and I co-share the account as well, so I'd rather not have to kill him over a mistake he made :P.

I play that way and I have a full time job, am married, two kids, go to college, and am a hardcoe Gamer. I still play DiD.

Well, I am a husband and a father of two, with a "real" job. Given, I'm a teacher so it does provide for some gaming time right now but I have a very busy life. My personal preference in these types of games it to be immersed in the game as much as possible. For me to do that, and for me to feel as close to the character as possible (as in, I don't want to die in real life and that translates to my character) I am very cautious. I think about everything I'm doing. Running around recklessly and not worrying about getting killed is not a fun way to play in my opinion.

But to each their own. Everyone plays the way they want to, and this is the way that makes the game the most fun to me. I may change, eventually. :)
