Nature Magic

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:43 am

I propose that alongside fire, ice and shock as elemental magic, a new type should be introduced; nature.
Now, we wouldn't even need a new skill tree - just like the other elements, it would tie in with the existing magic schools. Some ideas I had;

Destruction:
Swarm (The nature equivalent of flames/sparks/frostbite - deals poison damage. Much akin to what spriggans use.)
Sting (Apprentice projectile)
Hive (Adept area projectile - Causes considerable poison damage in 20s over 20 feet)
Venom (Expert projectile)
Pestilence (Master spell - akin to Blizzard)
Cloak, Rune and Wall, identical to other elements

Conjuration:
Summon Spriggan
" Thrall
Summon Spriggan Matron
" Thrall

Illusion

Command Creature
" Thrall

The idea is it would be incredibly effective against "organic" targets, but completely fail against automatons, undead and daedra (perhaps a perk to rectify this?)

Anyone else think this would be a cool addition? It wouldn't even require all that much work; everything's in there already, it's just a matter of making it accessible to the player.

Reminds me of another game. Some role playing game. Can't think of the name of the game right now.

I do like the idea of adding spells/effects like those you mentioned. The poison ones especially. They all fit into the established schools of Destruction, Conjuration, etc... just fine, so it would not take a reworking of anything already in the game.

I added the summoning part with my http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10733.

I also made the http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10860 mod to make playing the "at one with the wilderness" type of character possible.

If they brought back command creature, that would be useful in illusion, then we might have "Command Creature Thrall", so you can have a familiar/pet. Sounds good.

Yes this interests me. Magic has so few spell effects in Skyrim, it's quite sad.

Being able to summon more creatures would be a welcome addition. I found a few atronachs quite lacking compared to the last couple of games.

For the master spell, maybe Plauge of Pestilence? Just an idea

Lore ?

Who cares? How come crossbows are magically reappearing after dissappearing off of the face of Tamriel? How come Volkihar vampires don't phase through ice? Why are there no werebears? Gameplay =/= canon lore.

I care.

There must be reasons for Crossbows to reappear.
You don't know anything about the Volkihar in the DLC yet.
In the books , there is mentioning of Werecrocodiles , so many others are possible.
