Crossbow Sights

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 5:05 am

You've got to love how these people have obviously never fired a real bow and don't realise it is already in first person. So.. why not have iron sights for crossbows it makes tons of sense.. of wait I forgot;
That Eagle Eye would move the camera about 30ft beyond the ironsights so we'd never seen them when aiming down the weapon. Is that what you forgot yes it is.

That's very true. Eagle would make sights pointless.

For those on PC, it will be possible to put a scope on them. In the Creation Kit there's a spot for weapons to have a scope overlay, an obvious remnant of the GECK from Fallout. All the devs have to do is make that feature active first :D

Thank you for proving the point- yet again, this is not reality. This is not a FPS and it doesn't need aspects of that type of game to make it 'better'. If you're looking for 'realistic' bow action, check out all the new bows being used in games like Crysis and Assassin's Creed III.

That seems to be the post of one that doesn't want to challange a dev to make a better game.

That's your problem- you are stating your opinion as it is fact. It's not. I'm not 'challenging' the devs to change the game because I don't think your idea would make the game better in any way. Do you see how that works?

Interesting. Is this slot only present on the crossbow? It would be pretty sweet if you could use it to add zazz to your bows.. like maybe hang some hagraven or hawk feathers from your bow.

I think he is saying have an iron sight view instead of an eagle eye zoom. I can't really decide whether I'd want it or not. Obviously in real life you do look down the sights, I know I've used one, but I would worry it would ruin the Elder Scrolls experience.

+1.

We don't get behind the arrow to shoot bows, so why should we for crossbows?

Perhaps if Beth made FPS an option you could disable then we appease everybody.

EDIT: Mind you it's a lot of work to Fallout-ify Skyrim.
Although I don't think there should be iron sights that is a ridiculous argument. You need to use a bow and a crossbow before you can make statements like that.

Lol assassins creed realistic bows. He holds his bow in the wrong hand and puts the arrow on the wrong side of the bow.

Right. Nothing whatsoever like the post and notch most people are familiar with from CoD or MoH. I'll bet those two examples are a rarity, also. Most crossbows were probably fired by sighting across the top of the bolt. Many of the older examples have no buttstock, meaning they were not fired from the shoulder at all.

Please no Iron Sights in Skyrim D:
I'm sure if it was in, it'd be toggle-able, just like in New Vegas. Whats wrong with sights anyway? Adds more realism.

It's not even an FPS thing, it's just common sense, who fires a crossbow from the right side of their face? It'd add more immersion IMO.
