I have some actual data on combat balance

Very interesting anolysis. Thank you for taking your time and doing this :)

Although an anolysis like this won't (and shouldn't) take into account the subjective experiences one has while playing a mage or archer character. I just find them a LOT more fun than a hack-and-slash warrior... I actually have to think about strategies to win in combat, as opposed to clicking on enemies ad infinitum. And a human Dovahkiin can use an archer or mage tactics no NPC can ever do: like using a shout to distract all enemies, and one shotting them one by one with a poisoned arrow to the head, as they come out of the fort to inspect the source of the taunt. That's a lot more fun than just charging in and killing everything that move.

I guess that's why they added finishers and decapitation. Melee combat needed that extra something special to make it fun :) .
