Those are Radiant Quests and totally optional after the main quest line.

Was playing it this morning and I think nearing the end and was surprised how much there was after reading some of the complaints. I actually enjoyed the DB even more than the Thieves Guild. I really enjoyed some of the events in the story line.

Thieves guild and Dark Brotherhood are the two good quest lines. Companions and College are well terrible

You won't kill every npc in the game because they are generic npcs generated for the quest.

I think for these all you kill are people with [adjective] [noun] names. No important named people.

Every time a new quest is gained, a random, often nameless NPC will be spawnedi n the world for you to massacre and slaughter at you discretion. I think so anyway.

I don't know if its random, when I did it...it seemed to be recycling npcs I had already killed.

You can keep killing forever.

I like that.

The Dark -Brotherhood Forever quests are good but it seems as if you're killing the same 3 people over and over again. It gets boring after a while. I just do it to get money, since the NPC gives you 1000 for each kill.

I feel like DB is getting a lot of good pub in skyrim because the other questlines are so terrible.

DB in Oblivion had better quests. Killing all your homies? the Whodunit. Getting manipulated by that lunatic to kill other speakers...

I still like DB (behind the TG) in Skyrim too, but its another short quest line that makes me feel like we are being set up for a DLC stream where previous titles in the series had better developed stuff from the beginning.

Yes, the quest Dark Brotherhood Forever is a recurring quest. It kills pretty much the same generic NPCs over and over again. It gets tedious. I think it is a combination of lack of in depth game design and laziness. When the similar plot happened again, I realized how what a rip off it was. Granted, the betrayal cost the Brotherhood's existence. But could there be something more? Spoiler and suggestion follows.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) The emperor asked to kill the contract requester. And it was an option to kill the requester. Maybe there can be more follow through story line?
2) Instead of doing the contract from the Night Mother over and over again, is the Listener the ONLY one who does the contract? The game design can model like the Thief Guild. You have the option to listen to the Night Mother and contract it out to the initiates. Also, the sanctuary can prosper like the Thief Guild as well, the more quests/contracts completed, the more initiates and glamorous the sanctuary.
3) Since the Astrid's DB wasn't following the Five Tenets, There could be more story line to reinforce the Five Tenets after the new DB is established. After all, the whole point is to follow the old way or no way.
4) There can be more to the torture chamber than just filling it up with NPC. Maybe some optional quests?
5) There is a hierarchy in the DB. Beside the Night Mother as the head, the Listerner, the Keeper, what else?
6) In the Thief Guild, a dark elf brought up Morag Tong. Maybe the Listener can persuade him to join the DB or a separate story line/faction can be created.
7) Need more mannequins!

This. id rather actually have a certain number of quests that are fun and have substance, then radiant quests that never end and are the same thing over and over and over.

I just do not like the fact that the DB kill quests are never challenging. Go kill this defenseless peasant that is unarmed, has no guards around, and is out in the open. I just wish they were challenging. Have guards, bandits, SOMETHING!
