I'd rather have the political group, they make sense thank you very much.
The group basing their actions on metaphysics make just as much sense.
Going by your standard Beth should have just made the Stormcloaks an occupy Solitude movement with tents, 'we are the 99%' signs and all too, you know to keep things nice, simple and clean for you. After all one can always use more time to ponder the implications of whether Sovngarde is the remnants of Lorkhan's daedric realm or some pocket of Aethirius where the strongest souls manage to avoid the process of reincarnation, recycling and ultimately destruction (since there is no perfect reincarnation in TES, save perhaps the Nerevarine).
That is not going by my standard at all. I don't want the removal of any politics from The Elder Scrolls games or anything like that, I just think metaphysical events and dealings with gods and all that should always take center stage. It's a fantasy game. I've always tried to study real-world metaphysics and existentialism and all that jazz, but it's ultimately a fruitless endeavor because human beings don't know jack. In Tamriel, these things are much more accessible and understandable. There's much to learn and that's what is most fun for me in this series. If the whole series turned into just politics and mortals dealing with mortals, then I'd just rather not play. Some of that is good; it's required to have a convincing world and I would not want to sacrifice it, but as I said, I want metaphysics to take center stage.
