CTD on load with addition of another generated region...

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 6:34 pm

So I'm working on making my own worldspace, it's a fairly large island. I have 3 main regions that I've been generating with the Region Generator. I have a tundra, pine forest, and fall forest. So I generated the pine forest and tested it ingame, good. I worked and generated the tundra and tested it, cool.

However, now that I've generated the fall forest, I get a CTD when I try to load with the mod active in the load order. I've checked and the saved version of the mod RIGHT before generating works just fine ingame. I load that (Working version) in the CK, open my region, click generate, wait the 10 minutes, save. Activate it in my load order, get to main menu. Click continue, it goes to load screen for about 1 second then CTD.

Does anyone have ANY clue what's causing this? I can't imagine why adding another generated region would do something like this... I'm not even loading INTO the worldspace with my save. The save is a random clean one from my legit playthrough. I've tried multiple saves on different characters, exact same result.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: I've just tested redrawing the region at about half the size and it works ingame with the new objects just fine. I think the region got corrupt so I'm going to redraw it at full scale to see what happens.

EDIT2: I redrew the region in it's full size and generated again. It's CTD's again... It's like it doesn't like the amount or something, but it isn't even the biggest region I've done. (Pine forest was) I'm gonna keep screwing with it but if ANYONE has ANY suggestions, PLEASE tell me...

EDIT3: I generated a random large rectangle making sure not to touch or overlap any pre-existing regions and it still messes it up. It appears to be the size of this additional region? Does anyone know what's going on here!? This has brought my project to a grinding halt... :(

FIXED: Making my mod a master file fixed this issue. It has to do with the fact that the additional regions were making my esp file too big to be an esp.

Bumpity bamp. :(

Nobody? I figured. When I return from school I'll be trying to fix this some more... Just know, if this is some kind of region generatory size limit, it could be ANOTHER issue that screws over large mods...

In oblivion and fallout, generation was never limited for me, i could have silly amounts of generated stuff and close enough to overlap each other, also my regions blended with an overlap. If i remember, to have 3 regions you need 4, one main region that covers the whole worldspace and 3 inside. I could be wrong and no, this isnt solving ur problem.
I hope you get it sorted caus i'm going to be doing regions soon :/

I'm testing with different sized regions and so far 8x14 works ingame, 10x16 works, but 12x18 crashes. I'm going back to see if 10x16 still works, then I'll try in between until I narrow down the exact number of additional cells that makes it crash. Then I get to have fun counting the other regions and exactly how many cells they cover, to see if it's a total number of generated cells issue... If it is that is VERY bad news....

10x16 still works, so adding somewhere between 160 and 216 more regioned cells is breaking it. I shall continue, for science!
11x16 failed, so adding between 160 and 176 new cells crashes it.
I have 555 cells in all my other regions, which means that between 715 and 731 is the limit, which seems completely arbitrary and unlikely...

Okay what in Oblivion is going on here...

So 10x16 worked, 11x16 fails, so I did that extra row of 16 slowly. 10x16 + a side row of 8 worked, 10x16+12 worked, 10x16+ 15 worked, and 10x16 + 15, PLUs another random little block of 1 cell WORKED. Meaning it was the same number as the 11x16, but a new shape worked!?

So it isn't number limited, it's shape related somehow???

Wat.

EDIT: Now 11x16 works.... I'm going to try generating my whole zone again...

Double wat.

EDIT2: Didn't work....

Triple wat....

I've tried like 500 combinations of making regions, copying, inheriting, saving, reopening, and I cannot get this last region to function....

Anyone!? T.T
