Highest level achieved before 1st death?

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 5:22 am

Since it is so easy for this game to kill my character, which I really like, DiD is not something I want to do in this game. I have been killed at almost every level by most anything in this game for one reason or another. I even had a Clam kill me the other night. Well, I drowned in 3 feet of water trying to harvest it.

Think that wins the award for most embarassing death. I nearly died level 1 after killing a chicken in Riverwood, Alvor and some lady decided to attack me lol.

I'm on my third character and I don't believe I've ever made it past first level without dying. Certainly not past the second level without dying many times in the first dungeon I visited.

With my first character I seem to recall being killed by Alduin once in the very beginning of the tutorial.

I don`t get how you guys get to so high a level without dying. You`re either cheating or are on Easy. Even on Expert you`ll die way before level 40, even level 20...

Anyway, i`m on Master and died 1st time on level 2. Which isn`t saying much.
When you play Dead-is-Dead you have to be really careful what you get yourself into, and when you do so. In my case, I take advantage of the crafting system, since the armor and weapons that result insure that I'm well-protected and heavily armed while dungeon-diving. I also put a lot of level-up points into Health, since some high-level enemies (notably some Forsworn) hit pretty hard even when you have a high armor rating, which buys me a couple more such hits before I'm in trouble.

I play on Adept, but I am considering bumping it up to Master despite my dislike of how the settings work.

My 62 thief/assassin has yet to die. Probably won't unless i get careless on some cliff. It is my 4th character though so i know the mechanics of the game very well by now.

My first death ever in this game was by a giant whom i decided to go poke on my nord warrior (first character) at level 3 or 4. At least the panoramic view was awesome.

First death was at level 5, during the first dragon fight.

"Oh, I'm gonna go take this giant axe and crush its skull!"

Dragon just chomped down and threw me like a ragdoll.

Chalked it up to a mistake learned and moved on.

Next death was to that damned Frost Troll on the 7,000 steps. I was level 10 or so, and that thing was on BEAST mode at Master. Kiting it up to High Hrothgar was pretty funny in subsequent playthroughs, but damn... I hate that thing.

Although I didn't get very far, was around level 20-25 purely unarmed for DiD on master.

Finally went to the Rataway to get the fortify unarmed enchantment, went to fight the guy on low health, didn't think I'd need to heal and laughed for 20 minutes as the kill animation triggered from Gian the Fist.

First playthrough when I had no idea what I was doing, I died when I had to fight Mirmulnir even though I had close to half my health left. I was lvl 3. It was my first time playing a Khajiit (thief/assassin) and the fact that it ended so quickly and horribly has caused me to never again attempt to play a beast race. :P

I can't speak for the melee characters, but if you get Illusion up(hypnotic gaze -> animage -> kindred mage) at the early levels you can escape most things with calm. I used archery, conjuration, illusion, sneak(some of the most powerful skills in the game which also combine very well) along with light armor and enchanting. Enchanting is pretty major once you get to level 30+, increases your survivability a ton.

Just an epitaph: Kirrok died in battle yesterday, in service of the Companions, a glorious quest. He was only 15 but a brave man if ever there was one.

I took a DiD mage to 73 with 100 health.

I was playing quite early in the morning and had the sound off so I didn't wake anyone up when a sabre cat attacked from behind and killed me in two successive swings.

I like to roleplay my characters, but I couldn't do DiD. I'm too much of a daft idiot, to be honest. :/

lol! i know what you mean, since, i often die with my own stupidity.

but, that's why i like to play DiD every once in awhile when i want to take a break from my regular character. it makes me slow down and actually plan and play more carefully. great change of pace challenge.

I'm too cautious to ever play a D-i-D character without raising Health, since I don't use companions. I could maybe see doing so with a Mage, given how powerful Illusion and Conjuration are, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to risk it.
