Ideas for crazy new spell-Or the wisdom of 6 year olds

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 8:15 am

So I was hanging with my nephew watching some classic loony tunes and talking indepth about the universe as only I can with him. The poor Coyote was once again getting screwed by that evil corporation ACME mostly due to the complicated methods they employ.

He turns to me and says "Why aren't you able to make a movable hole using Alteration magic in Skyrim?"

What a wise wise child, I think he is a reincarnation of someone amazing...maybe that inventor guy who made Mr. Microphone!

So here is my challenge to you forumers (It is a word dammit!) What is the best spell you can think of that has not been used in the Elder scrolls universe.

How about a Master level Restoration spell called Resurrection that bring an NPC back to life. Useful when your favorite follower or a kindly townsperson gets killed by a Dragon.

Hmm well there is already a console command so that would be an easy thing to implement.

Restoration only affects the living. Necromancy deals with anything dead. So you should take up Conjuration :P

Nah, it should be Restoration. You are restoring life to the dead. With conjuration/necromancy you are manipulating the dead, not restoring life.

But that is a GREAT idea for a spell! Hell yes!

BTW, the console command for pc will do just that. And it's easy, you just hit the ~ key, select the corpse by pointing your mouse at it, then type "resurrect". They pop right back up soon as you close the console. It's easy as hell, and should be easy to make a spell. And I wish it was a spell, now that you brought it to my attention :)

You can even resurrect a toon that is suposed to be dead, and was dead when you entered the room. But it might/probably will break the quest somewhere. And if it conflicts with the quest in anyway, they might just stand there, looking at you and saying nothing. At least that happened several times I used it with New Vegas and Fallout 3.

Hmm you mean expanded shape-shifting? Since there is a base model to work with it should be fairly easy to impement, what exactly did you have in mind that you wanted to shift into?

Oh BTW, the portable hole alteration spell is a GREAT idea as well. We need a "bag of holding".

yeah this is what I was going to say. There's a whole slew of nature/druid spells that are even in the game but just not used. Like a wisp effect that could have easily been used for waterwalking or even a levitation using the type of trails fire atronachs have. Yeah, yeah, that old levitation bit but it always seems like I'm walking straight up a vertical cliff everywhere I go in Skyrim. Really what I'd like are reflection spells that actually reflect spells, not just swap damage targets.

Shapeshifting into a bear or sabrecat or even a mammoth to fight would be pretty sweet. Or being able to morph into a fish that can swim quickly or a butterfly to fly around a bit or a hawk to fly over distances. Sometimes I just want to be a giant mudcrab and terrorize the townsfolk, ancient feudal japan style.

Wisdom of 6 year olds? Actually that makes sense, unless someone can effectively think stupidly on purpose.

Hey I thought it was a great idea. I really dug the ten minute conversation that followed on how one might use such an implementation in the game.

How about a spell that turns a tomato into a salmon? That could turn the tide of any battle, in this warrior's opinion.

But a tomato makes a much better splat then a salmon when thrown. Of course you could place the rotting caracas of a fish into someone pocket to eventually incapacitate or perhaps poison them, that is more of a thief method though.

Some classics :

Harm (Random damage, with the chance to send a target's HP to 1)
Death
Doom
Petrify
Create Food
Teleport (In the sense of random relocation, not destination bound)
Sanctuary (Doubles armor or HP)
Bless (Increases Damage and Speed)

Original?

Friction (Damage built up by steps and released to buff damage or harm target)

Snookie (Mirror appears in front of target and allows for backstab)

i was thinking something small that could be useful in sneak (maybe a bunny) but every animal could have it's strong suit so it might be a good idea to include them all, i wish i was on pc so i could make/get a mod for it
