Level lists

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 10:00 pm

Hi i was wondering where i would find the leveled lists for items and creatures (I hear people saying i would need to change these). I dont really like the way vanilla levels up with you and would rather do some static levels for creatures and items. Please could someone tell me where i can find these files.

So far ive found the encounter zone files. Would changing the min and max help me with this? also i read that when you clear the dungeon these numbers are irrelevant and the dungeon sets to the players level is there any way of changing this so they would just get reset back to their min/max?

Thanks in advance.

Leveled Item lists are in the CK under... Items/LeveledItem.
These determine what actors will be given at certain player levels and what loot fills some containers.
Leveled Actor lists determine what opponents are presented to the player based on the players level also these are found in the CK under... Actors/LeveledActors.
For example a level 2 player will mainly encounter level 1-3 bandits in area (A), the exception being if a quest or location requires a particular actor at a set level for example some quests the player may take on could have a level 30 Frost troll ready to kick thier butts when the player is only level 5!

Thx for the reply, I have a few more questions if people could please help me out (iam new to modding).

If i set an enconter zone to max lvl 20 and the player enters that zone at lvl 40 would the loot scale to level 20 with the mobs or would it scale to the players level of 40?

When a player clears a dungeon how do i make it so it uses the encounter level range instead of respawning at the players level?

What would be the easiest and quickest way to change the lvled items and actors? is it all done individually or is there a quicker way of doing it and how do i set certain % that an item will be in a chest such as 10% a rare sword would be there.

Really sorry for all the questions just trying to get my head around how everything works

Thanks in advance.

The first scenario is true. Anytime the game goes to leveled list to pick something, it would go no higher than 20 in that area. This means loot, mobs, and spells would cap at level 20.

Edit: It's important to note that the Level 20 is only related to what's defined in the leveled list for Level 20. That is, the list may say "For all players level 15-20 place a level 15 mob. For all players level 21-25 place a level 20 mob. " So if a level 21 player entered, only the level 15 mob would spawn. The level 20 mob is in another bracket that's now ignored because of the encounter zone limit.

When a player clears a dungeon how do i make it so it uses the encounter level range instead of respawning at the players level?
You would need to define an http://www.creationkit.com/Encounter_Zone that references the area you're concerned about.

Heheh. There's no magic in creating the magic of Skyrim... only hard work. You have to do it just like the folks at Bethesda did. It's all individually done inside the CK.

You can't set a % on an individual item in a list. You would have to make a list with only that sword inside it. Then set the "Chance None" to 90 and place it in the chest or on the mob you want to. Of course you add this "individual sword list" to another list so it might appear somewhere else...

We've all been there at least once. Some of us (like me) never leave. :ahhh:

Thanks for all your answers i really appreciate it, I think iam slowly getting my head around the kit. Been working through all the tutorials like a mad man its tiring =)

just another quick question sorry

You would need to define an Encounter zone that references the area you're concerned about.

If i set an encounter zone level to 10 min and 20 max and i clear the dungeon will it respawn back at the same values? eg between 10 - 20 depending on the players level?

Yes. You've locked it into that level range so long as your mod is active. :)

Hey iam back again and ive found my self some problems i was wondering if someone could please help me with.

I have followed the tutorials on the creation kit website but i noticed that when i zone out of my dungeon in to the wilderness and back again that all the AI seems to have forgotten its pathing. None of them patrol or do anything anymore but if i lanuch the mod from scratch they all walk around fine. Iam just wondering if someone has an idea of why this is happening and is there a way i can fix it or a workaround.

And another small problem ive got is that i have a light set above an altar but when i move at certain angles the light efffect seems to dissapear.

Thanks again all.

Sounds like the navmesh bug. Are you using the beta, which fixes it?
