All,
I HATE HATE HATE all the light armors in the game, mainly because of the helmets. The exception is the grandmaster armor from the thieves guild. But I wont want to be a thief. So what I did was I duplicated NORMAL LEATHER ARMOR to my own, and it has all the exact stats as normal leather armor. However, when I went to the male and female world models and tried to edit them, it just blanked out the link to the old leather armor .NIFs, but I cant find anywhere on my hard drive or whatever so that I can select the "Armor\ThievesGuild\M\TorsoLeaderGND.nif" file.
So maybe I'm confused. How do I simply point to a DIFFERENT set of existing .NIF/model info? I am not looking to make my own.
Thanks!
You don't have to actually unpack or find the .nif if it's a "standard" Nif that came with the game. Simply open the armor that you want, copy it's path, and paste that path in when you're replacing it. That is, if you want your Leather Cuirass to look like Daedric, you would open ArmorDaedricCuirass and copy "Armor\Daedric\DaedricCuirassGO.nif". Then open ArmorLeatherCuirass and hit the Edit button next to World Model. Paste in the path and it will work.
Be aware... by doing this all NPCs in the game that wear ArmorLeatherCuirass will now look like they're wearing Daedric.
*lol* So I think you have the right idea by creating your own.
I was able to load my armor on my character, but I cant improve it at the blacksmith's armor-upgrade table.
Maybe I overlooked some setting from the normal leather armor.
Weapon/Armor upgrade/enchantment is run by the keywords you've been changing. You'll need to use the same keywords of the armor you want your custom armor to act like. That is, if you want your armor to be upgraded like Leather Armor it will need to have all four Keywords that ArmorLeatherCuirass has.
Well that's for safety. Actually I think the upgrade table only looks at ArmorMaterialLeather and ArmorCuirass. ArmorLight is used for the Light Armor Perks. Someone smarter than me can chime in on that.
