must i navmesh all the Exterior Landscape?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 6:12 pm

Ok i've 95% completed my lokir's tomb .esp mod and have the bendu olo quest almost wrapped up.
i've just started making my own World! with custom heightmap, and scenery which i've set up with a Basic Papyrus script that when you find this "statue" you can teleport to and from skyrim to my world!

Now, do i have to Navmesh all the landscape where enemies will be placed? this may sound dumb but compared to the "Interior" worldspaces these "Exterior" world spaces are much vaster. so should i just contemplate navmeshing specific areas for enemies or do all the walkable space as well (not including moutainsides of course). ?

i have gotten alot faster navmeshing by hand now too so it's not a big deal if i have to navmesh a massive area. Thanks guys!

OH: a new problem now too... i've got an area navmeshed, fine but now that Im making part by hand and it wont let me select two verts ** 1 from the recast based nav and 1 from the by hand mesh then connect them with "Q" just turns the green dots back to red and doesnt connect these? whats up with that?

P.S -

Go to Steam, visit the WORKSHOP, look under **Most Recent** and then Dungeons* look for my mod there "Coheed's Tomb : with bendu olo quest" !!
it's still W.I.P but check it out regardless!

When I can't join vertices, it usualy signals that they are in different cells.
Was that what is happening?

Either that, or delete those tri's, recreate and try again.

Hope that works!

thanks.

yeah your probably right regarding the *different cell* issue there :)
also in official skyrim** the mountainPeak* pieces you can see for miles.. but for mine they dissapear when i walk into the next cell *wilderness* areas.. is there something i can do to fix this considering these pieces are massive and "Cross-cells",,??

ill have to show off my "new world" soon.. still a w.i.p but ive got my first merchant & weapon smith walking around my map doing their chores etc.. now just trying to make my Duplicated "Parthurnax" sit on a wordwall which he isnt doing.. but ill get there.. ;)

As for the "dissappearing" mountain peak you probably haven't generated your LOD yet. Once you do this it should remedy the problem but I would wait and do this last so that everything will be included.

How does one generate lod ? i am familiar with checking the property is full lod , but am unaware of how to generate lod.
is this only for landmass , or can those be done for statics also?

I'll be doing a video tutorial on generating LOD sometime this week. It's a more complicated process so I wont explain it now, however you guys can search on the forum as there have been lots of posts. Or you can wait for the video. :)
