I am now somewhat fond of the Black-Briars

i have no problem with maven black-briar , i cannot understand why people hate her so much - i mean i REALLY don't understand , shes the only person in skyrim who isn't depressed or poor or something...she just gets on with the dirty business at hand and is rich and powerful because of it.

You can't understand how a lot of people dislike a person that regularly has people assassinated, ruins honest people's businesses, treats pretty much everyone like [censored], and is probably one of the most crooked, immoral and cruel people in all of Skyrim? You must either be playing dumb, or you must have alot in common with Maven IRL.

I like the Black-Briars...if only because there is a hint of court intrigue missing from Skyrim when it comes to dealing with the nobility. And as far as the nobility goes their behavior although questionable to us makes perfect sense for anyone in their position.Does my character care?no...just as she views us as a tool to use, so does he see her and her family in the same light. I also dont think she supports the Thalmor completely, seeing how she is and deals with problems and people its most likely an intricate diplomatic dance of keeping the goosestepping thalmor looking in another direction.

I love the Black-Briars.

They got their hustle on. It's like people hating politicans. "He takes advantage of people, he profits from other peoples misery." Well, yeah, and he worked his ass off to get into that position. I'd do the same if I had that power. They're a clan that hustled and hustled day and night until they got their power, so I think they deserve their wealth.

As opposed to the fisherman with the wood elf wife? A man who actually achieved his status the old fashioned way and actually wants to improve Riften, from what I've seen of Maven, she would sell Skyrim out to the Thalmor if it meant more wealth and power for her family.

Who gives a crap about Riften. I never understood why those people take pride in a location. I'd sell it to the Thalmor if given the option. It's all about you and your family, anything else is for sale. Maven and her family did what they had to do, they transended all this good versus evil bullcrap and got paid. That fisherman can be all proud eating fish in his shack with his wood elf wife, and thats adorable and all, but he sure ain't getting paid like the Black-Briars.

If Maven becomes Jarl once the Imperials receive the Rift in Season Unending, does she get evicted to the Blue Palace basemant when the Stormcloaks take over again? If so, good riddance, she was rude to me at the party in the Embassy - enough reason to ruin her convenient little arrangement.

I don't suppose it's still possible to plant damage-enchanted items on essential NPCs the way it was in Oblivion? Too bad, I wold have loved to slip her something with, say, fire damage, so she could burn forever... ah, fond memories...

Nope, she goes back to walking the streets of Riften and living in their mansion. She still talks like she's the Jarl though, gotta' love them bugs.

Nope. She keeps on staying in Riften, secretly running the show.

Edit: Ninjaed.

Ah well, I'll just have to assume the loss of her Jarl status brought an onset of dementia...

If you take the perks in the Pickpocket skill you can reverse pick pocket a poison into their inventory. Poisoning an essential character should result in them permanently crawling around.
