Dragonbone Weapons: A Discussion (No Spoilers)

They should look "barebones" ( heh). I hope the mace is nothing more then a short dragon-bone :) Give me simple and brutal stuff.

I've seen the Blacksmith screenshots of the weapons, if those are the real ones, and not a mod. They look alright. The one that really disappoints me is the sword. The hilt looks pretty good, but the blade is just... ugly. It's all irregular and rough looking. Whereas the greatsword is symmetrical and smooth. If there was a smaller version of the greatsword, it'd be my favorite weapon.

Also, the greatsword does less than half the damage of the sword... Must be a fake.

I for one do share some concerns and if your Xbox or Ps3 player i am sure this is a relevant conversation, but as a PC player it does not really matter one way or the other as i have mods to change what ever i want. I live this game, i love the developers who released a tool kit, and i love the mod community for making my favorite mods. Skyrim, FO3, FONV simply the best games in a long long time.

So i hope the developers do manage to make some stuff for the Xbox and Ps3 players that does not look too much like trash, but if they do then really you have only yourself to blame, play on PC as such you can play your way, or not and play with someone else's vision and hope it fits.

Not everyone can afford a good PC.

Not necessarily, maybe the other weapons have enhanced damage from whatever the player has regarding perks or jewelery bonuses... I mean the Daedric Greatsword only does 24 points of damage according to UESP. Plus looking at the images you can clearly see that they must have been taken on an Xbox, I mean with that picture quality, someone on PC would have just taken an ingame screen shot.

That's true, didn't think about that.

DISCLAIMER: This is only to get the ball rolling on what you think the weapons will look like when Dawnguard is released. We all know they'll be stronger than the Daedric weapon set, but what about the aesthetic qualities? Will they be ugly and ridiculous looking like the Dragonplate and Daedric armors and weapons? Or will they have a sleeker, more refined look to them like the Ebony weapons?

I realize a lot of details are slowly leaking out everyday, but I'm curious to see if people are actually looking at the screenshots like I have been, primarily the screenshots of the members of the Dawnguard and the weapons they hold.

Look first at the screenshot of the mounted combat, of the Dawnguard member swinging the axe (if someone could please post an image that would be great, being a new member it seems I'm not allowed to do so.)

This is certainly a new kind of axe. The handle is made out of something that doesn't resemble the dark wood of the iron axe, and the axe head doesn't follow any in-game shape. Therefore it must be a new type of weapon. There's even an encircled cross on the axe head that matches the same design on the Dawnguard helmet. Could be a silver war axe? I highly doubt it though.

I think what really gives us a good handle on what the Dragonbone weapons will look like is the image of the female Dawnguard member wielding a warhammer of some type. If you zoom in on the screenshot you can see the head of the hammer looks as if its forged out of ebony, but the handle looks as if its carved out of dragon bone.

I hope the weapons follow this aesthetic pattern. Searching Google for the latest news on the new in-game stuff I saw an article that supposedly had images of the new weapons. They looked nothing like the weapons in the screenshots you can find on the Elder Scrolls wiki. The blades were made out of dragonbone, and the hilts/handles were made out of what appeared to be ebony. I don't think this is right.

Anyways, hope this stirs some discussion, if anyone can post photos of the screenshots I mentioned I think that would help out a lot. If I had permission to I would have myself. Let's get this discussion rolling.

After reading this i want a damn cookie. :stare:

I for one think the Dragon Bone Armor/Weapons could be done significantly better. Though to each their own I suppose.

I bet each faction will have their own sets of armor with similar stats and possibly only Dawnguard gets their own weapons (more crafting).

I think people are mistaking the Dawnguard weapons for dragon bone weapons. I've seen the leaked pictures, and if it's legit then the weapons in the game informer magazine are not dragon bone.

OOOOHHHH MA GOOOD. The dragonbone weapons look frickin' sweet. Just did a search on google. Nice to know what they look like, but does show poor picking of beta testers.

The trailer already shows the Dragonbone Bow, and the E3 demo shows a Keeper in Soul Cairn wielding the Dragonbone War Axe.

Looks like one of the beta testers is going to be in trouble.

Taken straight from the trailer. Serrated bone edge from my guess. I think we may have just had our bubble burst.

It looks like a scythe.

Nope, that's the Dragonbone Sword.

Yeah it looks a little wild. Definitely cool though. I'll probably just craft some and throw them in my chest in Vlindrel Hall. This warrior only uses steel.

Unlikely since some of the images in this very thread are not dragon weapons. Im betting dawnguard has their own special weapons similar to how the companions have skyforge steel.

Yeah, that's definitely the way it's looking. I can dig it. I'd wield weapons with crosses on them any day.
