So.. I finally did the Imperial Legion *spoilers inside*

Post » Tue Jun 26, 2012 5:01 am

As I said in a few threads, I had intended to do the Legion questline.. and I finally did. Been replaying a few parts of the ending simply because I'm so used to the Stormcloak questline, but I'll admit that I kinda feel sorry for Ulfric. I've yet to meet him in Sovngarde, but with all the guys been through.. being captured by the Thalmor during The Great War, then being arrested in Markarth simply because the Thalmor found out what they were doing, then being ambushed by Tullius and being captured again only to be killed in the Imperial Legion questline.

To me, at least if you side with the Legion, he doesn't get a break from anything. After I'm satisfied with the Legions ending, I'm moving on to Solitude to speak with the court about his death and hear their opinions, and while I don't like everything about Ulfric I do still have some respect for him. I do wish Bethesda had found a way to make improvements to Windhelm on some levels as well, like getting the racism to die down regardless of which side you take in the War.. and unfortunately we never see anything happen in the game. Also, with all my conflicting views on the Civil War, I don't know what to think anymore.. although I do still lean toward the Stormcloaks more for my own reasons.

So, with all that Ulfric has been through starting from when he was first captured in The Great War to putting him down in the Imperial Legion.. does anyone feel sorry for him in any way? I know that he's seen as selfish and power hungry from what Dengier, Elisif, Laila Law-Giver and even Empire supporters here on the forums say about him.. but I can't help but feel a little sad for him

Not really because I've never killed him. But even then Sonvgarde is a beautiful place truely fit for a Nord.

He has good intentions but hes short sighted, he believes his country standing alone can stand up to and defeat the Thalmor if they attack Skyrim in full force while honestly the Empire is their only hope.

Siding with the Stormcloaks too me seems like you're dooming Skyrim to fall.

I feel bad for Ulfric because I know that he wasn't always what I think he is now. He went through hell and it changed him deeply, but that doesn't mean I'm going to support him. Batman understands that something happened that made Joker what he is, but that doesn't mean he won't stop Joker from wrecking havoc. I feel the same. It's unfortunate, but Ulfric and I found ourselves on opposite sides, and since neither one of us would back down, I'm afraid I had to eliminate him.

His life have been filled with hardship, and he have scars, but do I feel sorry for him? Not really, that is simply how life is in Tamriel at the moment and he seems to have pulled through nicely enough, being one of the two people with a realistic claim for the High Throne of Skyrim.

Another place, another time, he and my character Artanis could have been bro's. But as it normally is in tales of war, our ideals place us on differing sides.
I had nothing personal against him, and really, he had all the right makings. But also all the wrong ones as well.

When we met in Sovrngarde, I role-played out a bro moment. No hard feelings. We met in battle, and I gave him a death worthy of song. One of us were going to die that day. The dice just rolled in my favor.

I feel bad for everyone who walked into what will soon be derailed into a Stormcloak v Empire morality thread. >_> <_<

On topic? No, I don't feel sorry for him. Skyrim's storytelling is not its strong point.

Nope, I don't like him, I see where he's coming from but he just is just a whiney little [censored] who needs to be quiet, coming to a meeting to negotiate a truce but uses it to only get land.
