Fast Travel..... Good or Bad?

Why? Why can't the 'hardcoe' players just ignore it?
Most hardcoe player do already ignore it.

That sounds a lot like immersion to me :bunny:

I can't call it immersion when you can see elk sprinting into a stream, under the water and across the other side.

I use fast travel so that I can avoid visiting certain areas so that things have a time to respawn. You need to stay away from the area you picked your flower for 10 days for the flower to grow back.

Then wait 10 days or find another spot where that flower spawns. Why glitch the spawn just to mass produce flowers? Next you will say it's ok to use Faendel as a follower and have him train you in Archery to 50 for free.

In my opinion it's perfectly reasonable to assume that he'd help you with archery training for free. Especially when you consider that I'm the one who stops the zombies from eating his face.

I consider it a cheap exploit or glitch, but that is my opinion.

Fair enough. I can certainly agree that it's not intentional. :P

I have a question (before they close this thread down) abd a comment...

The question: I like to explore caves and dungeons too but if you explore them in random encounters don't you run the risk of glitching subsequent quests? Two examples...I have the Waters of Oblivion in my inventory and can't gt rid of it. i obviously picked it up in one of my spelunking adventures long before the quest was activated. I also went into a cave or dungeon and killed a Hagraven. later i got the quest and went in the same area, completed the quest...except the hagraven was already dead so now I can't complete the quest or get rid of it in my journal. I'd like to explore more but it worries m that I'm missing or glitching the game.

The comment: I have heard (and more or less confirmed in my gameplay) that the more you fast travel the more dragons you'll encounter. Unless I fast travel to somewhere like Solitude, I always have to fight a dragon after I've fast traveled. It gets kind of tedious. I like the gold they always carry but I've taken to leaving the bones and scales ...I've got so many stored in a dresser in Breezehome they're not worth the weight burden.

Thoughts?

Don't take books from boss chests (the big gold ones), Don't pick up "named" items (like Joe's T-Shirt), and avoid killing people with names. Exploring is still not 100% safe, but it's a lot closer. You can try for a "perfect" game and miss some stuff, or see what's out there and maybe glitch something. It's a tough choice that's for sure.

As for fast traveling. Yes. Dragons are FAR more common when you fast travel. In 1.5 (I think) they either messed with the timer, or the %chance that an encounter is a dragon (coming out of fast travel). One way or the other, they appear less frequently now (I'd say) from regular travel.

I typically don't fast travel, but it is nice to have when I don't want to walk from Kynesgrove to Windhelm to take the carriage to Solitude.

Should fast travel be limited or even scrapped for the next elder scrolls game? I personally think that fast travel shortens the game considerably what do you think? Would you prefer the next game to go back to how morrowind was travel wise?

No, they should not scrap it. If you don't want to use it, don't use it. It really is that simple.
