Performance Enhancing Mods

Post » Tue Jul 03, 2012 7:27 am

I have been watching the Gophervids stuff for Skyrim Mod Sanctuary and very early on he talks about two mods that help to increase performance (4gb skyrim and borderless windows player).
My question is whether better alternatives to these are now available since the creation kit has been released?

I know there are some graphics mods that decrease the textures in-game. So if you have a weaker graphics card, that would help. I can't remember the name, but there was a thread here a while ago.

There are tools like http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12801 that can be used to reduce the size of textures by applying a different compression and/or resizing the texture.

Skyboost works for me, I get about 5-15 frame increase using it. Optimizer textures is another good one.

It is unneeded since it was integrated to the main game.

1.3.10 made the memory extender obsolete as well.

SkyBoost doesn't work with the latest version of Skyrim, so I don't recommend it.

@Eightball: 4GB patch isn't required anymore :smile:

What do you guys mean it's fixed in the latest patch? I still get a 5% frame rate increase with it installed, I'm running the latest 1.6 patch btw.

Placebo effect if anything. It shouldn't even be loading (I forget how Alexander treated incompatible versions, but I doubt he let the module load).
