A Though I Had

Well after the Dawnguard quest you see that you cannot do anything with your Elder scroll of the Dragon. As far as I know that IS all you can do with them, though perhaps the Dragon scroll leads you tto the secret of unlocking the Dragon transformation.
I guess lore can always change but, this still sounds kinda crazy. In fact by doing what septim did in oblivion you would theoretically become a god or else die and turn to stone. which is why this idea still seems strange to me. Even with the power of an elderscroll.

Can you explain how this could even work?

Though what if your blood is of a different strand, by using the scroll you can uncover secrets that the Grey beards did not tell you. A secret that they did not want to tell you due to your involvement with the blades. For if you could become a dragon, then you would be hunted like one as well. So that could be a mission starter right there.

EDIT: The Martin idea was an example, though like I said. What if your blood can be utilized differently. By discovering the power of your blood through the Elder scroll you are confronted with a conflict. That in order to take the form of a dragon, you must pass the test. If you sacrifice yourself you are worthy of the ability (Akatosh being the one you try to gain favor). For you may need the ability for some conflict.

Ok, Bethesda could pull a fast one and slide it in there. But, there is just one problem. They'd have to re-write the entire main quest or else start a new game because realistically... that's pretty much the only quest where sacrificing yourself is reasonable. And in the next elderscroll game I think the dragon born stuff will stay in skyrim. Still I can now see how you could implement this "dova-form" now.

LOL, yea. I am not waiting for a new Elder scroll. 5-6 years until the next one. THough You may be right about the re-writing thing. Unless the quest is an accessible for some prolonged period of time. Maybe, after the main quest is completed? I don't know, I guess I can only hope lol.

maybe as an end game thing. like say you have an elder scroll or some thing and to beat the finally boss of the dlc you turn into a dragon that one time. maybe you would have to chase hime around for a bit so that way you would get to actually fly around for a bit since your only a dragon for that one time.

Just a note: Dragon Transformation is not against lore; the king of the Akaviri tiger people (Ko-Pun I think they're called) turned into a dragon. Not only a dragon, but largest on Nirn.

Now to my opinion. I'd like a mount, but turning into a dragon would kind of ruin it. You're the Dragonborn, the mortal dragon. Hero of man/mer/beast. Then bam, you're a dragon.

The dragonborn could never turn into a dragon without the amulet of kings. There is no dragonsblood flowing through your veins. You have the soul of a dragon while in the body of a mortal. So you have whatever race you are blood. The amulet of kings is gone and its the only with dragonsblood that would allow a transformation. So it pretty much impossible the soul isn't enough to do this.

But that's different race, and Martin was only able to transform because the amulet so unless you have the amulet of King or its equivalent it's unlikely.

I really find it hard to believe one race is more inclined to turning into dragons than others. No one to my knowledge is actively seeking to become a Dragon in Tamriel, while most of that race wanted to. Only one achieved it, but I think any race could. Still, vastly improbable.

It could be a special trait of the race. But it's up to Bethesda in the end as long as they can provide lore-friendly reason I've no problem with it.

No thanks. I'd rather Beth work on other things like solid story and bug fixing before frivolous additions such as transformations.

This. In a couple years, I probably couldn't give less of a damn about transformations and other gimmicks. What really sticks in people's heads is if you tell a grand story.

I'm not so worried about bugs though as long as they're not game breaking. The minor ones are often a curiosity to play with really.

I like the bug where in random caves, a wall will be missing and I can venture into that zone. It makes my character feel like I can walk out of reality whenever I please. ^^
