Anyone else feel that paralysis in a bit too powerful?

I think the problem is that by the time you get enough levels/skill to get that spell, the game starts to get fairly easy by that point anyway.

Well, unless you're lucky like me, and find a staff of paralyze. I've used it plenty and it's funny stopping a Saber Cat right in front of your face, or sometimes abuse the local goats running down the road. Either way, I limit my uses on the staff. Only during the challenging battles do I use it.

Did you find it in a hagraven cave in the pale? I think we found the same one. I too keep it around for.. You know- :)

I think it's great you didn't get to use alot in oblivion and now you can. I think if you played OB you'd appreciate the spell in skyrim

Whenever anyone mentions oblivion, these two things usually come to mind first:

1. Crap leveling system
2. Chameleon power.

Chameleon ability makes anything in skyrim seem underpowered. When I got 100% chameleon for the first time, I honestly couldn't believe that a group of professional games developers put that in as a serious game component. Things like that back in the day were reserved for cheat codes.

Ha ha! I guess it's possible for everyone to find with it just sticking out of a rock.

As overpowered as anything can be in a single player game, You tried smithing & enchanting lately?

Like all single player games the balance lies with the player to choose what they will.
No, the player should be able to play naturally, and not be forced to constantly limit themselves to avoid taking all the fun out of the game because the developers didn't bother to balance it.

paralysis is the best spell because it gives u a chance against those volkihar master vampires. and it costs alot of magicka so that balances it out.

Childishly rude remarks

The only rude remarks I see are in your own post. I made a mistake in the crossbow thread, but the point still stands, just not as much as I had previously thought. A sneak archer with the steel crossbow at level 10 is... well... silly.

Aside, and also forgetting my knowledge of the idiot you made yourself out to be in the crossbow thread, you should read echo's post as that is my pov as well. Its alright that you are looking at things from a self-centric viewpoint, but that is just you, and your idea of how things should be, not how the average populace may think of things, and more importantly, how they are.

You may be an exceptionally talented video gamer, hell anyone with a lick of skill can dominate this game, but i know quite a few people with skyrim as well, and they dont have mad skill. My idea of balance, would be unplayable for them, thank godness they can depend on crafting, and i can ignore it so that we can both reach a personal level of enjoyment with our hobby. Somehow i dont feel the need to place blame for a lack of balance, nor feel the need to demand my friends get on my level.

Clearly you did not understand my argument. Novice difficulty is there for a reason. You deal DOUBLE damage, and take half damage. The world's worst gamer would have no problem owning everything, even without egregiously overpowered skills such as sneak and smithing. How am I viewing things from a self-centric position if I showed that a (more) balanced game would be enjoyed by more players than what we have now?

Are these unskilled gamers just embarrassed of having to play on novice so they are glad the game is replete with overtuned stuff because it allows them to at least manage the normal difficulty? Why else would anyone not want a balanced game if the difficulty slider is designed to tune the challenge for your particular skill level?

Late edit: if you are looking for a challenege asg- then wait for Dark Souls, itll be on PC in like a month, thats what im
Eagerly awaiting. Skyrim isnt in the same challenge "league" as DS, and no matter how
Many mods i stick on it, it will never be.

I have heard a lot of mention of Dark Souls but as it was console only I have no idea what the game is like. But I'll check it out.
