I use food for both RP and non-RP reason's. IF my character doesn't use alchemy, mostly becuase they use alot of smithing & a little enchanting, They use food as a "health boost" usually Elswer fonue or chesses and other 10 to 15 point food stuffs. Yes it IS a little weird to be eating in the middle of a battle, but if 10 to 30 points isn't enough to keep them errr healthy long enough for health to regenerate or leave the "battle field", they die.
Other character's keep the types of food that would travel well, apples, horker loaf ( well I imagine it would travel well) bread, those kinds of things. They stop or take a break, what ever you want to call it and eat something and take a rest. When I go hikeing I take food and water along and stop to take a break.... so I think that my characters should as well, they are after all using more calories swinging a sword/axe/hammer,( I would think even magic would burn calories) than I do just walking.
I really wouldn't want cooking tied to Alchemy in the perk trees, it would mess up some of my RP. I can "cook" dinner, lunch or breakfast... if the character is home and NOT have to worry it is increasing skill's, it's just something that is their. You can use it or not.
I'm not even sure I would like it haveing it's own skill tree. Then you would have to worry about that skill tree lvl'ing you up just because you want to RP that your character has a half way normal life.
