The main story is pretty good, but...

secondary quests svcks, always same things to do : go kill that infiltrated vamp, go take this awesome item/weapon, go find that master vamp etc... why they did a system like that ? It's just boring and it gives nothing positively to the extension i think, just artificially enlarge the length.

Your thoughts about that ?

I agree. It's not just the Dawnguard radiant quests, it's the radiant quests in general. They are just shallow compared to real quests and I find them unnecessary. Instead of them Beth could have put more resources into making real quests. I just don't see the point in radiant quests. We didn't have them in Morrowind or Oblivion, that didn't stop us from putting hundreds of hours into the games.

It doesen't help that its a copy and paste, of the civil war questline. Basically there are only one or two different quests, for each faction, other than the radient quests.

the point in radiant quests was for an idea that, the game never truly ended.

Also I hear that a majority of quests were going to be radiant but they realized it wouldn't work out and had to go back and change it. But not sure on that I heard that second hand.

But, first thing I said still stands lol.

so game never ended, and never will.

You won't stop playing because theres nothing left to do, but because you're freakin bored lol

As I said, neither Morrowind nor Oblivion had radiant quests. Did those games suffer because of that? No, even after completing all faction quests there was still plenty to do. Plus the fact that they didn't waste their time making radiant quests allowed for far more memorable quests.

Daggerfall had radiant quests as well and they were just as bad. The only good part about the game was its interesting MQ. I would say Skyrim doesn't even have that.

The radiant quests idea sounds good, I just think it needed to go a bit longer in the oven until it was properly cooked.

I like to agree with the second guy. It sounded like a good idea, but I felt that alot of things in skyrim personally were half baked.

In other games you were fully recognized for your achievements, in this one life continues like you never even did a thing. This is true for MQ and DGMQ.

The radiants are a time sink. Worse one to me being the thieves guild radiants. And they have a habit of breaking. It had a small level of potential, but it wasn't used completely.

I like the DB having them because it works simply with them in a sensical way, to me at least.

I didn't know about the Radiant quest's system, thanks! Well... i think i really hate that system.

Hope it will not become huge in futures games/extensions. :(

I agree. The main problem is too many radiant quests follow the same generic formula. It's not like you can make deep repeatable generated quests, they are more of a filler thing but it would be nice for more variety in them other than go kill this person.

If the radiant quests were applied in a more dynamic or environmental way, they could be something special. By that I mean that there needs to be more of a relationship between the radiant quests, and what is happening in the game environment.

For instance, rather than simply 'steward says there's a bounty on the bandits at X' and you go there, kill them, comeback with loot and get bounty, rinse and repeat, the fact that there are bandits at X should trigger less goods and money at your merchants, people in the towns could complain about lack of trade, the khajits caravans could stop using those roads or you could get reports of bandit raids, and more bandits etc could be active in the area.

I'm over 1400 hours on my character now, which is close to three years in-game time for him, and the radiant system is starting to kick in a bit more along those lines...while vamp incidents with DG are still occurring, the stormcloaks are coming back with a vengeance in some areas, which really surprised me...but there does need to be a closer linkage between game environment and those radiant quests and encounters, that's a thought that has been with me for quite a while.

And, as an aside, I think there may have been more non-DG locations introduced with the DLC...I'm finding a bunch of new locations with things to do that I'm fairly positive were not there previously.

The absolute main problem with Radiant Quests in Skyrim, they take you to different places but there's no depth at all.
