Once again, DLC related issue.

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 11:45 pm

I'm only posting this, despite there being another topic on the matter, to better bring the severity of this issue to Bethesda's attention. I too have succumbed to the glitch that others have posted about, the one relating to attempting to load a game and getting a message similar to "There is downloadable content on this save game that is no longer present. Do you still wish to load?" and when hitting yes, having the game respond "The storage unit is no longer present. Cancelling load."

It doesn't matter what save you click on and it doesn't matter whether or not you turn the Xbox off, this glitch is impossible to remove as far as I can tell.

To put this into some in-game context for Bethesda, my problem came out of doing the quest "G.I. Blues" right near the end. I attempting to reload to a previous save in order to change something I did incorrectly and then had this problem come up immediately. For other users, I know the problem can have other origins so I doubt this info is necessarily helpful, but I thought I would offer it nonetheless.

Please suggest a possible fix, if possible.

I'm not certain the save games are salvagable. So long as I start a new game, everything appears to be fine. However, I've never heard of corrupted saves spreading into ALL saves either. I truly don't know what is going on with this thing.

The files are not corrupt. Other wise it would say they are. They are salvagable trust me :D

It's the game thinking that it's missing something . Pretend you picked up a gun in the real game.
Well the save glitches the game thinking that the gun is part of a DLC pack you downloaded and it searchs for it on DLC nothing comes up.
But with this case it seams to be everything from the buildings and textures from what i can tell cause it freezes and there just ground.

yea, i'm coming to terms it may not be salvageable(but i can still hope), as for the multiple saves being corrupted, learning more about the problem, i'm realizing that w/e causes the issue may have occurred after i saved both files again, and i didn't find out until it was too late

I'm hoping they intend to do this quickly. I've invested 11 hours into the game so far and I REALLY do not want to start it all over again, only to run the risk that this problem will crop up again.

You guys can start a new game though?... Maybe just deleting the DLC will be enough to hold off future game save corruptions.. You can always re-download it later when everything is fixed. I was thinking of just starting a new character without the DLC as it's pretty useless. I nice little added bonus but I should have waited to use the stuff on my second or third game. I wonder if you could still get the corruption if you just tossed all the start up stuff away? I've been making a save on the internal hard drive just in case. Don't know if that'll work if I do get it though.

So I deleted my DLC and started up a saved game.. one in where I was wearing the armored vault suit and had the weathered gun equipped.. It all loaded just fine.. I was just sans armor and gun.
So I guess re-creating the DLC bug by deleting the DLC doesn't work.

you misunderstand, this bug isn't actually related to DLC, i and i believe sindorei don't actually have DLC installed/downloaded, however, when we attempt to load a file with the bug infection, the game claims that their is DLC associated with the file(which their is no possible way), and the file fails to load, it has nothing to do with actual DLC, which makes this bug even weirder, and harder to explain to people who haven't come across the bug yet.

I took off work yesterday to play the game, got about 12 hours in and went to bed. Woke up this morning to get an early start and found this bug. This is extremely frustrating! I have another save that's a good 3-4 hours earlier that works but what if that gets corrupted as well? I reached out to a couple gaming blogs to see if they can put it out there for Bethesda/Obsidian to see because this needs to be fixed. This only hurts the hardcoe fans who took off work or played through the night on release night. I bet a lot of people are going to start getting this today as they load up their save games for the first time. Most people probably haven't done a lot of loading, only playing yesterday...

indeed, it seems to be manifesting around novac, or the strip, as well as beginning to occur after about 10 hours of play(which should place you around those 2 by then), so i imagine as people begin to reach these points, their'll become more statistics

Yeah, I'm trying to piece together the common denominator with this issue. As you said, Novac, the strip, and I'm seeing a lot about this space suit from the rocket factory that could have caused it. I don't have that in my inventory though, I put it in my safe in novac. Regardless, here's hoping they fix it...

Thanks man. I sent in something about it. I detailed where I was when it happened, what quests I completed, what I had in my inventory (from what I could remember), etc. Hopefully we begin seeing things about this today. It would be heartbreaking to lose all of the gametime I put into this so far.

I wrote to Kotaku.com via tips@kotaku.com and told them about the game save issue. It seems a lot of people have been complaining to them about bugs. They showed a video for the funny one, but they also mentioned ours and said they are reaching out to Bethesda about this. That's what I wanted to see, Kotaku usually gets a response.

Here is the article: http://kotaku.com/5668552/fallout-new-vegas-has-bug-issues
