Paying for MMOs cont.

So you think companies like Blizzard have crossed the line and what line is that - yours? The line as you put it is all relative. To the 10 million WoW players (they're all mad I tell you) Blizzard hasn't crossed the line.

Yes, my line, and of course it's relative. And how many people do or don't do something or how many of them think that something is good or not has no weight at all. I'd give an example, but I hate adhering to Godwin's law, so...

I'm one of those madmen and I can tell you based solely on my personal opinion and experience that Blizzard has not crossed any line. The proverbial line is of course different for everyone, but I don't see my monthly payments as unfair. I gladly pay to play the game, and when I don't want to play anymore I stop. I've got no problem with Blizzards business model for WoW. They're offering us extra content on a regular basis, plus maintenace of the game and servers and in game support. I feel I get my money's worth, both in the sense of entertainment and in quality.

Yes, I know, and I consider that a bad thing.

Then perhaps you ought to move to Cuba?

What Blizzard are doing is just economics, plain and simple. They don't force anyone to do anything, they are staying within the frameworks of both national and international law, there is simply nothing wrong with what they are doing whatsoever, so who are you to condemn them?

Oh, so you think something is wrong only if it's illegal? Poor you and your family.

Godwins law, aka Godwin's Law of Nazi anologies is a humorous observation made by Mike Godwin in 1990 which has become an Internet adage.

It states: "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1."

It all comes down to how much value an individual puts on a given MMO. I didn't like WoW, so paying for it makes no sense for me. I enjoy DDO, however, so it is worth it (to me) to pay the monthly fee. Of course, due to Turbine's point system, I will not have paid much more than $60 before I have enough points to buy all of the subscriber content.

Big difference between something being legally wrong and something being morally wrong, making money comes under neither.

Temporary close :stare:

Edit: I do despair at times, it seems as if you can't play together nicely. As if suggesting Godwin?s Law was not enough you also have to introduce flamebaiting. The temporary close has just become permanent.
