Never cared about watching others do sport. I rather do sport myself, although lately that hasn't happened much either.

The best thing about the olympics is that so many people want to buy a new better TV to watch it, so the stores have a price war which benefits me too :P

Meh, the only thing really psyching me up about them is the new "We Are The World" during the opening ceremony.

I have the Mario & Sonic game. Would maybe watch a couple of things with the girlfriend since she likes it, but I can't imagine much interesting will happen tomorrow. Might catch the snowboarding or something if it's not on at a stupid time.

EDIT: And people actually watch the opening ceremony? Most pointless thing ever.

I have never laughed so hard in my life.

As for watching the Olympics, I will probably see the opening ceremony, and try to catch some skiing. Other than that, I won't watch any of it.

The only thing I watched of the Beijing olympics was the football, and given that the Winter Olympics contains no football, I won't be watching any of it.

YES! Big snow sports lover, (ironic (and expensive) for someone who spends her life in snow free countries)But what if Lindsey Vonn is injured? I swear killing sports reporters in some slow cross country biathlon event is justified. And yes I love skiing, and would love boarding too if any of them ever completed a sentence. Like. :)

I think I'll stick around for bobsledding, just because I actually liked the movie Cool Runnings. Maybe possibly skiing to because NPR had some story on a US skater who went and hurt her leg during training. Also Colbert. :P

They already have the patronising down pat at this Olympics, ifhttp://www.vancouversun.com/technology/slopes+Heroes+Snow+Leopard/2554520/story.htmlisn't enough for you, then there is http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/12/AR2010021201243.html. Blame it on snow blindness. :(

Anyways, tomorrow night people! Opening ceremonies and such. I can wait for it all: Speed skating, Bobsledding, Ski Jumping, Downhill, Snowboarding and yes!! Even curling!!

Don't mock curling! :stare: It became quite popular in Finland after our team won some medal in some games some years ago. I've forgotten already.. :D

To me curling seems like a sport invented for svckers who didn't want to clean the ice for sports like hockey.

The only reason I even knew the Olympics were happening is because of Stephen Colbert helping to fund the US speed skating team. But even then I don't really care lol. Sorry :|

Damn Canadian iceholes! :D (Did you miss that whole deal? Funny stuff, got Stephen a free ticket to the Olympics I believe.)

I'm of the opinion the money could, and should have been spent on maybe, housing the homeless, funding addiction shelters, fixing roads, more that just "Olympic necessary roads". You know, important stuff. I never protested, or anything of the like, but I do think the Olympics benefit only a select few in the end. While the rest of the population pays for it.

But, the fact is they are here, and I will watch some of the events, such as hockey. I like that I finally have an Olympics in my time zone. svcks watching re-airings hours after the fact, or staying up all night to watch the events you want to watch.

Go Canada go!

better be, because thats about how much we.... errr my dad, had to pay for em. For a Canada vs. Finland final I say, who needs central heating and running water for the next six months! :D

Fixed. :P

I don't believe the best players always play.

Sadly true for ice hockey as well... A lot of the best players from European countries tend to stick with their teams in the NHL instead. :(

To me curling just seems like winter golf... :D

There are some who would say Curling is Canada's national sport. I say, sod off. I don't even call it a sport. Oversized shuffleboard. -_-

You two never played, eh? It's so fun

I'll probably be checking out most of the games, especially hockey. The only things I don't really want to watch is skeleton, this discipline is just too insane. I don't want to witness anyone die D:

I never bothered with them before but my girlfriend wants me to watch at least the opening ceremonies with her because her brother is part of the USA ski team. She has a bunch of jackets and gear from them too.

Okay, that's just hilarious. :biglaugh:

Anyone else think it's funny that it still hasn't snowed there yet?

And how is curling a sport exactly? Pretty soon they'll graft NASCAR into the summer Olympics.

The only sport I'm interested in is Football (No, I will not call it soccer, it's football damnit. We actually kick the ball in this sport unlike the American version) so no, I'm not interested in the winter olympics. I'll probably watch the opening and that's it.

EDIT: Oh, and curling is the second most boring sport in the world, just behind cricket.
