more combat added to base game in future DLC ?

the rating at gamespot fits, even in the poll on this thread, so far 12 people want more combat at 2 people don't, lol so the rating is right, over 90% want more combat, you're only one of two people so far to vote no on more combat, so you're a minority on this and fallout new vegas in the combat department didn't do so well, in a lot of other areas is surpassed FO3 easily, but dungeon diving and good batlezones are something people want in a fallout game, so it needs a little more, i can hardly find any ceasers legion anywhere unless i travel to their fort on the hill, thats about the only spot, they're the main enemy, i should have all kinds of ceasers legions units to kill, but they aren't around.

I don't see how you can say the rating fits as if it's a fact. Equally the poll and the content of this thread is too vague to guage a real response. Even i was swaying over which option to pick.
As i said in my other post i wouldn't mind if there were areas of higher powered enemies added onto the game or even something like gabriel suggested with a scripted event of a group getting more powerful and changing their base of operations (as long as the integrity of the world is maintained). What i don't want is the idea that the wasteland suddenly quadruples in population and becomes an implausibly hostile enviroment. A lot of what is good about the game derives from the atmosphere of the world and increasing the number and type of enemies just so you can kill more stuff and watch more slo-mo exploding heads is not a positive thing and that's what seems to be (at least partially) argued for.

If you want more combat why not attack the NCR?

actually guys i should do that, i guess i'm into ammo merchants so i hate to lose the ncr merchants like contreras at camp mcarren or the guy at hoover dam, but i should fight the ncr, do you guys switch to fighting the ncr as the games g5oes along or right from the start, cause right from the start seems real hard tpo do that since they immediately come looking for you, i wish CL was a little better and hunting you down, but its a good ideai might have to go anti ncr to make the game a bit more combat oriented.

i'm not saying it needs a mass overhaul, its pretty good for the first dozen levels or so, but as we level up we should have some stiff combat in certain areas, otherwise it gets too easy to cruise around, the entire left side of the map is pretty simple once you're leveled up, i never see any CL on the left side of the map or any other tough enemies, FO3 had enclave, supermutants, talon mercs, they were all tough to fight, they need that kinda aspect a little more, powder gangers stay way too weak, using 9 mm come on, they need some plasma rifles or slighty heavier firepower, and the only good place to fight supermutants is black mountain, their could of at least been some random super mutant patrols in several areas on occasion, so some minor adjustments in a future dlc would breath new life into a somewhat undercombat game as you're leveled up especially, and the poll is pretty basic, its yes or no, more combat added to a future dlc yes or no, nothing misleading about the poll,12 out of 14 people said said yes to more combat, so a lot of people agree a little more combat would be nice.

I attack the NCR right at Primm every time except for my one NCR playthrough.
But they won't be permanently hostile towards you unless you wear legion, powder ganger or khan armor, kill the ambassador, or progress in Legion/House's storyline long enough to be considered a "Terrorist".
So I go straight to Nipton and pick up and equip a legion recruit armor by the trailers.
I get attacked a lot. :)

i never played thru as an enemy of the ncr, but i'll try, i might start a new game just to see how it plays with them against me.

what I do mind is that by lvl 20+ everything is just too easy.

Except Quarry Junction of course. Been there? We could use more of that. That is TOUGH on any level. No spoilers and I wouldn't want to give it away anyway but enjoy!

Been there, only hard for Unarmed characters as it's hard to time the ranger takedown with the deathclaws dash attack.
But in that case just pop some med-X and psycho and VATS the bastard to death.

Not even Quarry Junction posed much of a challenge. (I used a sniper on some of them but found it to be way too easy and has not used any scoped weapons against them since.)

For the sake of my damn sanity I wish people would stop saying this.

Use a less powerful weapon. Self gimp. I don't care how much you don't like it. I'll buy you a box of tissues. Anything's more preferable than the bullet sponges of PL and MZ again.

I'm coming to the view they secretly want to force us all to play a version of Fallout that truly is "Oblivion with Guns"........where the enemies level up with you and by the time you hit level 30 you're actually slightly weaker relative to your enemies than you were when you were level 1. They had to let you play after the MQ ended.....because after level 15 it gets increasingly harder to keep NPCs alive long enough to complete quests.

I wouldn't mind a DLC that adds encounters, opens up some buildings and levels some enemies and their gear. I liked discovering the extra stuff that the despised Broken Steel added to the wasteland.
Doesn't mean they can't also add some poopy old fetch quests with speech checks and lots of dialogue for those who want to pretend they're sophisticated gamers.

One thing though....with this latest patch I've seen a lot more combat between the NCR and Legion in and around Forlorn Hope and Nelson. Battles in No-Man's land, Legion raids on Forlorn Hope, then at one point I'm leaving the BoS bunker and walking to Novak and hear shooting....I investigate to find 10-15 NCR troopers storming Nelson by themselves. Ended up with 6-7 NCR troopers milling around the campfire by the crucified soldiers and every Legionnaire dead except for Dead Sea and his friends in the barracks. I freed the crucified troopers and looted the host of corpses, then went and dumped the swag and triggered the final part of Restoring Hope. All I had to do was take Cooper and his men to Nelson, then went into the barracks and lured Dead Sea and his men out into the waiting guns of the 10 NCR troopers outside...where they were promptly shot to pieces...completing the mission without incurring any Legion infamy.

Well, a crapload of combat =/= Great game.
Just cause it plays out in FPP and we use guns to kill stuff doesn't mean it's an FPS first.
Obsidian realized that and focused on the RPG bits more.

So on this subject I'm kinda on the fence on where to place myself.
I want more challenging enemies but I don't want Fallout 3's awful "enemy every 30 meters".

But more combat and dungeons does not mean better game or better Fallout game for that matter.

[edit]
Honestly, there's no easy fix, either they need to re-tweak the entire game or they need to listen to my suggestion about hardcoe Mode+1 or Extreme Mode in order to make the difficulty more satisfying.
If they don't then the game will keep going in Fallout 3's tracks of us being demi-gods.
Maybe not quite as much demi-gods as in Fallout 3 but demi-gods non the less.

Tbh what makes bethesda overall better developer is that they ignore the whims of the minority and listen to the majority.I can guarantee theres by far more ppl interested in a increased enemy population then the few who enjoy this barren wasteland void of amusemant. And power armour is supposed to make youa demi god aka walking tank :P.If they wont increase population, give the enemies stronger weapon variants so they can still put the beat down if u get foolish .instead of the mideocre rcw give them the gatling laser tribeam/tesla beam/and if possible better armour.FOR the love of god D O N O T give them rocket launchers gmg's or grenade launchers -_- .Hit the deck doesnt work ftl and the rocket has insane limb damage

If you want to shoot things go play call of duty. Obsidian did NV right.
