Lighting in the GECK doesn't work properly for me

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 7:41 am

Whenever I try to place a light in a level the light never changes. And if I move a light in another cell, that one turns off. Eventually all lights seem to not work. I restarted the GECK and it loaded the lighting back; even the new one in my cell. But when I tried to move it up, it turned off again. What's going on here? How do I fix this? The Wiki didn't seem to help with my problem much, unless I missed something.

My Documents/My Games/FalloutNV

GECKCustom.ini, find bUseMultibounds=1 and change it to 0.

This should fix it for the majority of cells. If you find it's still broken in a certain cell, randomly adding a room marker anywhere in that cell fixes it for me :)

I forgot to mention I already did that change, I was having waaaay more problems before doing that lol.

It seems like all it needs is a refresh of sorts, but without having to quit and restart the whole program just to see how the lights look.

You tired the room marker thing? It's weird but it works.

One thing I've found, is the lights work on an object that was moved by hand, what I do is select evertyhing, move it slightly then cancel the move. The lights stay working at that point until you start usin other commands.

Hit F5 to refresh/reload cell.

This is the easiest way. Each time you place a light, hit f5 and let it load, then look at your light. It's not as ideal as realtime lighting like in the Fallout 3 geck, and I REALLY hope they fix it soon, but for now it will have to do.

Wow thanks guys, the F5 trick worked just fine! I'm used to having to do that anyway when I worked with Unreal. Mods you can close this thread if you need to.
