a bit worried

I see what you are saying now, but i -THINK- you can change your HUD settings to make it so you can see more or less.

And this is SD made W:ET and ET:QW, i dont know about quake wars if they did anything for it, but if i remeber correctly, they did make patchs and improvments on Wolfesntien: enemy territory, but that game was more open to the communtiy as it had a map editor tool of a sort, and it was on PC so alot of user made content and such.

well to some degree that might solve the problem, but the writings still going to go from red to blue

Gameplay > graphics

Does it really matter what the game looks like, as long you can make out what's what? Games have to have graphics comparable to other new releases, true, but if a molotov's explosion is a little weird, or the animations are stiff and jerky, so what? I still go back and play video games because of its extraordinary gameplay, not the level of the graphics. I play Metal Gear Solid a ton, even though the polygon count is low compared to what exists today, and the character's mouths don't even open when they talk. They just have a little head bob thing going on.

If you want good graphics, there's always Call of Duty or Crysis to fall back on.

i wont disagree but when you are sprinting around the battlefield gunning people down and you throw a molotov, i don't think you will sit there and say "that molotov blew up weird, that looked kind of childish and cartoony"

Well, we will see if the game is any good this coming May. ^_^

For me, I like cartoony artstyles because most [FPS] games are too brown, gray and realistic (except for the colorful-ness of the few non-FPS games like Uncharted 2, etc).

The colorful-ness and cartoony-ness is what got me into Borderlands and it's what got my attention into Brink, lol.

I understand it's not for everyone, but for me, it's a breath of fresh air compared to many other games, especially FPS games.
(Also, games can be any type of styles since.... the beginning of gaming, lol, why must everything so realistic? I can go outside to my backyard or my nearest
park if I want realistic graphics, lol.)

Like I said, we will see if the gameplay is any good. For me, I'm going to judge when I actually get the game in my hands. :)

EDIT: And, really. The hacking? I didn't even think anything of it, lol. It's just a cartoony thing. Maybe this game's just not for the "realistic/realism" crowd? (Which is something I don't get.... people are complaining about realism.... in a video game.... in which no one really dies.... people stab a needle and everything's okay-dokey...and people disguise/look like they change their body types .....and we can't lie down, lol.)

i was really looking forward to brink, and from a gameplay perspective i expect it to be excellent. after watching the 'ready and able' video though, i got a bit worried. it isnt that i dislike the graphics, but the whole game is starting to seem a little unsophisticated or childish. like the way the (i presume) operative hacks the 'mainframe' and screens of blue writing turn into screens of red writing. i mean, thats just a little stupid. and the way he shouted 'hacking the mainframe!' was pretty worrying too, in that it was voice acting worthy of a game from 2001.

admins, please don't just delete this thread because its critical, and forum posters please don't label me as some kind of hater, i have the game pre-ordered and i don't doubt that i will enjoy it - but from what i've seen (and i want to remind you that i honestly am not talking about it's graphics), it doesn't seem suited to commercial success, which, despite what i can imagine some of you saying, is undoubtedly what companies who make FPSs are trying to achieve.

plus it might be a bit sloppy round the edges - look at how that molotov cocktail exploded, it was like a mini-nuke from ratchet and clank 3.

First let me echo what the mod said. You didn't come off like a twit, so kudos for that :)

What exactly did you expect to happen when he hacked the mainframe? Something realistic like say, nothing? I mean what was supposed to happen? If you think about it, the only reason it would have screens like that (aside from the "cool factor" is to show what is happening. So maybe green was processing normally and red means downloading info or some such. Seriously though, when you hack a computer, what external effects would you want to see?

As to yelling it out, why wouldn't he inform his team? That way they know to raise Cain elsewhere to draw the enemy away to buy him time. At least I assume he "shouted" it into this mic and not out loud.

OMG, that's exactly what I was thinking except I didn't know how to articulate that in a way that is understandable, LOL! :D

Yeah, I've seen waaaaaaaay more unrealistic stuff on TV live-action (supposedly "serious") shows like 24, Bones, NCIS and.... CSI: Miami. B) YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHH!

I for one am excited about the graphics. I have 4 FPS games in my collection right now and all of them are realistic looking war games. I am more excited about Brink than any game in a long time due to the fact that it is a new look and style. Kudos to SD for thinking outside the box, and having the guts to try something new instead of just following the herd and releasing another cookie cutter game just to make a few bucks.
